Julie talks about her experience in a new beginning which is also an ending. Beginnings and endings go hand-in-hand. Part of new beginnings is acknowledging what was before and saying goodbye to it as well as embracing what's coming in the next season.

As KT explains, the word Kedem, in Hebrew, means East as well as ancient and beginnings. Read this month's newsletter for more about Kedem/East.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 22 And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground... Exodus 14:21-22a
Maybe you're not the Moses of the story but the Miriam... what might have happened if Miriam wouldn't have offered to Pharaoh's daughter to find a nurse? We are all an important part of God's narrative even though others and even we may not know what that looks like in our lives.
What is it to be in the spaces that you're not necessarily called and will be called out of? What is it like to be in a space for that long that's not where you're supposed to be? - Preston

In our podcast this month, it was discussed how Moses said 'Henani' which is a way to say 'I'm all in before I know what the ask is (and it's usually a big ask) - all of me is here'. Moses was saying 'yes' to God before he knew what God was going to require of him.
Did you know? The word for the basket in which Moses was laid is the same as Noah's ark, the boat that saved him and his family. Both preserved the sacred future.
Preston writes, "Moses’ name and life reads as one who is continually being drawn out by God into places he is reluctant to go. Sound familiar? It seems ... outside the womb we’re further drawn into a journey that invites our willingness to participate."

In this month's podcast, Jennifer says, "God built us to be curious." We encourage you to ask questions. Of people and of God. Often our questions are given to us by God to invite us into relationship with Him. Ask, wonder, wrestle. #jointheconversationscripturecircles.com/podcast
Moses! On Mt. Horeb, his life as a shepherd of sheep ends and he becomes a shepherd of people. What might God be calling you into that looks different but might actually be very similar to what you're doing now?
Why doesn't the text tell us why Mt. Horeb's name is changed to Mt. Sinai? Why don't we know what Sinai means? What does it mean when God intentionally doesn't tell us something? Is there something else we should be focusing on in those circumstances?

Ethan points out that later at Mt. Sinai, it seems like a marriage covenant is being established but the people held onto their old practices. Do you recognize and are you willing to let the old to die in order to allow the new to come forth?

Speaking of Mt. Horeb, U.S. asks, "So then, how can this mountain of dryness, of swords, death, and destruction, be where a loving God chooses to meet with one of his children?"

"How many times have we done something knowing it’s wrong?" In this month's scripturecircles.com/newsletter, Lance talks about how "the people choose to worship a golden calf" when "God is literally within sight." What are we choosing when we choose to worship something other than God?
Can we acknowledge the death, the ending, of the times in our lives when something new comes and not only focus on the new thing?

As we transition into a new school year and Fall is approaching, there are/will be a lot of new beginnings. What has to end in order for you to walk into the new beginnings in your life?
