IP owners are different. Some are easy to work with (for example, I’m fine with competition and usually just ask people to remove my intellectual property). Others, like Meta, may ignore your messages entirely and push for your app to be removed from the App Store. Apple also looks at the number of violations. Repeated infringements are a major red flag. The right move is to fix issues before complaints arrive. And yes, that will almost certainly hurt conversion rates. But it’s still the better long-term decision.

If you vibe-coded an app in a couple of hours, that’s not a moat. Your followers can build the same app in a couple of hours too. The real challenge starts after you hit “Publish”. What’s impressive is getting users, retaining them, and making money from it.

So far, ASO and localization changes haven’t had a noticeable impact on the app’s visibility. But a negative result is still a result. Now I know this approach doesn’t work for this particular project. Next step: paid acquisition. Let’s see if paid traffic can give the app the initial push it needs and help drive organic growth.

People copy app icons, app names, ad creatives, and sometimes even use videos featuring me and my kids to promote their own projects. Building in public helps you grow. But it comes with a price.

That’s why I learn from every copycat. I file trademarks, improve my backend, test more thoroughly, study competitors marketing and analyze which features resonate with users. All of it helps me grow. I build brands, borrow some ideas from competitors and adapt them to my own products and marketing. The goal isn’t to be original at all costs. The goal is to build a better business.

I have a story about this. A friend of mine was strongly against building in public. He preferred to stay quiet and keep everything private. One day, he shared his app in a small event chat with just 19 people. One of the participants copied the idea, built a competing product, and quickly grew it into a successful business. Four months later, that guy came back, thanked my friend for the idea, and pointed out a couple of marketing mistakes. My friend fixed them. Over the next few years, his business grew 20x. To this day, he says he’s grateful to the person who copied his app. Not because he copied it. Because he taught him how to market it.

I don’t do consulting in any form. I tried it twice and realized it’s just not for me. After each call, I felt completely drained. So I decided I’d rather make money from my own apps than earn what seems like easy money from consulting. I enjoy building products far more than selling my time.
