It’s 100% certain every single role was closely looked at and calculated in an industry where OEE (availability*quality*performance) is king. Humans are needed for the last 10%: SKU changeovers, clearing jams, material refill, inter-station work etc. Likely a good reason there isn’t full automation
It's fascinating how even in an incredibly optimized, highly automated place there are still so many humans hanging around every one of these jobs could be done by a robot -- if it was possible to automate what they do in a reasonable time frame
