The relationship has never been about creating dependence or containing India’s rise. It has been about investing in India’s capacity to grow as a trusted strategic partner. In the decades ahead, India’s young workforce will also play an increasingly important role in supporting Japan’s own demographic and economic challenges. Diplomacy is not measured by the volume of headlines. It is measured by the confidence to invest for decades. Trust is the most valuable currency in international relations. Japan understood that long ago.
