WHAT’S NEXT FOR BOLIVIA?
With roads reopening in parts of the country, the immediate blockade crisis may be easing. However, the deeper political struggle remains unresolved.
Evo Morales and his political support remain central to the fight against the current government, as the government faces pressure over inflation, shortages, and demands for political change amid uncertainty.
INDIGENOUS & LABOUR RESISTANCE
Despite some agreements reached, indigenous and rural unions and organisations continue to reject the government’s approach.
Movements centred in Cochabamba, El Alto, and the Chapare region accuse authorities of excluding grassroots organisations from negotiations and maintaining policies that worsen living conditions.
The Isr*eli government has reportedly spent over $200 on military campaigns that comprised on targeting and killing people across West Asia, from G*za to Leb*non to Syria to P*lestine since 7th October 2023, according to a recently released article by TRT.
Citing data from the Bank of Isr*el, this excessively large figure was embedded in a report produced by Zman Yisrael, the Hebrew-language service of The Times of Israel.
How much has Israel spent on its military since its 1948?
"A BREASTFEEDING BABY WAS SH** IN THE HEAD"
"You can scratch your balls, half dressed and kill P*lestinians" Isr*eli soldier quoted in new independent UN inquiry, that has found that Israel is guilty of g*nocide against P*lestinians in Gaza. It documents camera equipped quadcopters killing breastfeeding babies.
Srinivasan Muralidhar, chair of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, added that Isr*eli soldiers have posted so much incriminating evidence themselves that it is crystal clear the atrocities committed by the IDF in G*za have been extensively documented.
But despite the breadth of evidence presented against Isr*el—from doctors' testimonies to Isr*eli soldiers themselves providing evidence that investigators say supports allegations of crimes against humanity—Tel Aviv remains largely immune from international repercussions.
British politicians debated “pro-Isr*el influence in politics and democracy" in Westminster Hall on 22nd June 2026 after an online petition circulated, receiving over 110,000 signatures, which was launched on 28th January 2026.
Specifically, the discussion focused on Isr*eli state links and pro-Isr*el lobbying activity in UK politics.
Those who signed the petition did so specifically to highlight “the horrific devastation in G*za, the ongoing suppression of P*lestinians in the West Bank, and the UK’s political response underline the urgent need to scrutinise how pro-Isr*el organisations, networks, and lobbying efforts may shape government decisions, party policy, and public debate,” according to the petition.
Leading human rights barrister Rajiv Menon KC is once again facing the threat of being held in "contempt of court", a rare and aggressive legal move that critics fear is a targeted attack on his defence of P*lestine activists.
The case against Menon stems from his 2026 defence of activists belonging to P*lestine Action, a direct action group that has now been proscribed as a t*rrorist organisation, which targeted the Isr*eli-owned Elbit Systems arms factory in Filton, near the city of Bristol in the UK.
During his closing speech, Menon reminded the jury of their historical right to reach a verdict based on their own conscience.
The judge - Justice Jeremy Johnson - had explicitly banned him from mentioning this principle, effectively trying to force the jury to ignore the moral context of the activists' actions.
Because Menon dared to speak about this fundamental right, the judge has now referred him to be investigated for "contempt," a move that lawyers say is unprecedented and intended to intimidate those who challenge the UK's complicity in the G*za genocide.
As the legal community rallies behind Menon, many see this as the latest attempt to narrow the space for dissent, ensuring that only arguments approved by the establishment are permitted in British courtrooms.
Kirsty Brimelow KC, Chair of the Bar Council which represents barristers in England and Wales, has previously said the contempt proceedings against Menon “risk a chilling effect on the profession” and called it a “troubling episode”.
Separately, in an unprecedented event in British history, four of the P*lestine Action activists were sentenced as “terrorists” despite not being charged with terror offences.
Human rights organisation Amnesty International described those sentences as a “dangerous move against the right to protest”.
Isr*el is revisiting proposals to pressure P*lestinians into leaving the G*za Strip, signaling a renewed push for the "voluntary" displacement that many human rights groups identify as ethn*c cleansing.
According to Isr*eli outlet Haartez, Shmuel Ben Ezra, the head of Isr*el's National Security Council, held a meeting with defence officials to discuss “encouraging voluntary emigration” from G*za.
During the meeting, Isr*el's intelligence agency Moss*d said it has not found a country willing to take in P*lestinians from G*za.
Despite the fact that these mass-expulsion proposals violate the parameters of the existing ceasefire and have been widely condemned as war crimes, the Isr*eli government continues to frame the departure of Palestinians as a strategic goal.
Officials are now publicly stating their intent to implement these departures "at the right time."
For P*lestinians and international observers, this "voluntary" framing is a thin veil for coercion.
Critics point out that after months of systematic destruction and the creation of unliveable conditions, any departure is effectively a forced expulsion.
By continuing to prioritise the removal of the P*lestinian population, the Isr*eli leadership is once again demonstrating that its objective is ethnic cleansing, regardless of the catastrophic human cost or the legal prohibitions against the transfer of protected civilian populations.
As internal political pressure mounts ahead of upcoming elections, Isr*eli ministers are increasingly using the promise of a "G*za without P*lestinians" as a tool to consolidate support, further entrenching a policy of dispossession that remains at the heart of their agenda.
MASSIVE EARTHQUAKE ROCKS VENEZUELA: THOUSANDS FEARED DEAD
Venezuela has been struck by two powerful earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, just 39 seconds apart, causing widespread devastation across the country.
The earthquakes struck shortly after 6 pm on Wednesday, 24 June, with their epicentres near San Felipe in Yaracuy State, around 120 kilometres west of Caracas. The tremors were felt across much of Venezuela, as well as parts of Colombia and Brazil, with dozens of aftershocks following.
Emergency services, firefighters and civil protection teams have been deployed as rescue efforts continue. Videos from affected areas show collapsed buildings, damaged infrastructure and search teams working through the rubble to locate survivors. Some of the worst destruction has been reported in the coastal state of La Guaira.
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez has declared a state of emergency, suspended schools and other non essential activities, halted the Caracas Metro and suburban rail services, and temporarily closed Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía.

EGYPTIAN AIRSTRIKES KILL SUDANESE MINERS
Sudanese officials have pledged to investigate allegations that Egyptian military forces conducted aerial and ground operations targeting artisanal gold miners near the border between the two countries.
According to testimonies from miners and local sources, the attacks, which reportedly occurred on 16 June 2026, targeted mining sites in the Jabal al 'Oqaydat area of Sudan's northern River Nile State.
Witnesses claim that drone strikes and heavy artillery were used against workers, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries. Thousands reportedly fled the area on foot, while many remain unaccounted for.
Egypt's army issued a statement on 22 June announcing a large-scale security operation in their southern border region, describing it as a crackdown on illegal gold prospecting, smuggling, and irregular migration.
Egypt said it detained 223 individuals, including 87 Egyptians and 136 foreign nationals, and seized mining equipment, weapons, and vehicles.
Lt. Gen. Abdulfattah Al Burhan, the commander in chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, confirmed that his government is investigating reports of attacks on Sudanese citizens, while emphasising Sudan's commitment to combating illegal mining.
After war broke out in Sudan in 2023 following the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia's attempt to seize power, Egypt immediately backed the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
However, this does not give Egypt carte blanche to use drones to attack Sudanese civilians, regardless of whether they were engaged in illegal mining.
In 2024, the RSF attributed its loss of territory in central Sudan to Egyptian airstrikes on its positions. In 2026, reports also emerged alleging that Egypt struck a military supply convoy travelling through the Egypt-Sudan-Libya border region that was reportedly en route to the RSF.
Yet, even as it expands its cooperation with the Sudanese army, Egypt also relies heavily on investment from the UAE, the country widely accused of backing the RSF. This reflects the complicated and often contradictory nature of Cairo's ties with both Khartoum and Abu Dhabi.
IVÁN CEPEDA ACCEPTS DEFEAT
Iván Cepeda has recognised de la Espriella's victory, accepting the vote count results.
Still, he alleges that the United States had a hand in interference, vote buying and manipulation, using AI throughout the campaign.
ELECTION DISPUTE SPARKS PROTESTS
The dispute sparked protests, legal challenges, and a fierce political battle over the legitimacy of the result, all across Colombia. Thousands marched in Bogotá in defence of democracy and against election fraud.
Colombia’s scrutiny process drew to an end, as election judges reviewed challenges, overseas votes, disputed tally sheets, and objections filed by political parties before the final certification of results.
