Dear Friends in Christ,
Please join us this Sunday morning, July 19, 2026, at 8:00am and 10:45am for the Seventh Sunday after Trinity, The Sunday of The Feeding of the Four Thousand “Complete Submission to the Lord of Compassion”.
“He took the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the crowd.” - Mark 8:6
Welcome to all members and visitors! We are pleased to have you with us as we receive Christ's gifts and as we respond in thanks and praise.
Sermon: “Jesus is the ‘Lord of Compassion.’” – Mark 8:2
Kantor’s Notes: As Jesus feeds the multitudes (Mark 8:1-9), we learn once more that there is no one more compassionate than our Lord Jesus Christ. Today’s hymnody includes several hymns which speak of Jesus’ compassion. “Oh, How Great Is Your Compassion,” for example, uses the word compassion in its title (LSB 559). “Glory Be to Jesus” points to Jesus’ ultimate compassion in laying down His life: “Blest be His compassion, Infinitely kind” (LSB 433). “Lord, Whose Love through Humble Service” reminds us of the compassion that we are subsequently called to share: “Making known the needs and burdens Your compassion bids us bear” (LSB 848). Finally, we will sing selected stanzas of Luther’s “Dear Christians, One and All, Rejoice,” drawing us again to Christ: “God said to His beloved Son: ‘It’s time to have compassion’” (LSB 556:5).
The Seventh Sunday after Trinity Divine Worship Service, at 8:00am will be live streamed on St. Paul's Facebook and YouTube streaming services.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Please join us this Sunday morning, July 12, 2026, at 8:00am and 10:45am for the Sixth Sunday after Trinity The Sunday of The Sermon on the Mount - "Life-Embracing Righteousness".
"...I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." Matthew 5:17
Welcome to all members and visitors! We are pleased to have you with us as we receive Christ's gifts and as we respond in thanks and praise.
The Sermon: "You Were Baptized into Christ " - Romans 6:3-11
Kantor's Notes:
Today's service clearly presents to us both the Law and the Gospel. The Law convicts us of our sins, as we hear in the Ten Commandments (Old Testament Reading). The Gospel proclaims the perfect work of Christ for us. His righteousness truly exceeds the "presumed" righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees and is given to us freely by faith.
The Hymn of the Day "All Mankind Fell in Adam's Fall" reflects the teaching of Law and Gospel and is quoted in our Lutheran confessions. The hymn first begins by describing the total corruption brought about by Adam's sin. It describes the thoughts and deeds that flow from our sinful hearts. Second, however, it shifts to proclaim the Gospel in its full sweetness. "But Christ, the second Adam, came To bear our sin and woe and shame, To be our life, our light, our way, Our only hope, our only stay." Finally, it ends in thanksgiving: "We thank You, Christ; new life is ours, New light, new hope, new strength, new pow'rs. This grace our ev'ry way attend Until we reach our journey's end."
Today's prelude will be Johann Sebastian Bach's settings of Martin Luther's hymn on the Ten Commandments (LSB 581). Consider meditating on this hymn as you prepare for worship this morning. In connection with the sermon theme, we will also sing several Baptismal hymns extolling the righteousness of Christ that is given to us in Holy Baptism.
The Sixth Sunday after Trinity Divine Worship Service, at 8:00am will be live streamed on St. Paul's Facebook and YouTube streaming services.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Please join us this Sunday morning, July 5, 2026, at 8:00am and 10:45am for the fifth Sunday after Trinity Divine Worship Services. The Sunday of The Miraculous Draft of Fish - “The Sanctification Wrought by the Spirit”.
“Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” Luke 5:10
Welcome to all members and visitors! We are pleased to have you with us as we receive Christ's gifts and as we respond in thanks and praise.
The Sermon: “Hope Makes a Difference” - 1 Peter 3:8-15
Kantor’s Notes: The 5th Sunday after Trinity teaches us of “sanctification wrought by the Spirit.” Today’s Hymn of the Day “How Can I Thank You, Lord” (LSB 703) fits this theme well. In it, the author acknowledges that it is only by the Lord that we are brought to faith and moved to lead holy lives. We pray for this sanctifying grace in stanza 4: “Grant that Your Spirit’s help To me be always given Lest I should fall again And lose the way to heaven. Grant that He give me strength In my infirmity; May He renew my heart To serve You willingly.” In today’s sermon text (1 Peter 3), Peter teaches us of the Christian life, both in life and speech. Today, we will remember how the hope given in the Gospel makes a difference in our living and in our speaking.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Please join us this Sunday morning, June 28, 2026, at 8:00am and 10:45am for the fourth Sunday after Trinity Divine Worship Services. The Sunday of The Good Measure "Discipleship Preserved and Perfected by the Spirit"
"For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you." - Luke 6:38
Welcome to all members and visitors! We are pleased to have you with us as we receive Christ's gifts and as we respond in thanks and praise.
The Sermon: "Be like your Teacher" - Luke 6:36-42
Kantor Notes: Today, we remember God's rich mercy given to us in Christ which we in turn are blessed to show to others within lives of Christian discipleship. Our Hymn of Invocation (LSB 791 - "All People Who on Earth Do Dwell") reminds us of God's mercy in Stanza 4: "The Lord our God is good: His mercy is forever sure." Likewise, Distribution Hymn LSB 852 contains the theme of mercy in the title and throughout the hymn: "O God of Mercy, God of Might." The appointed Hymn of the Day LSB 696 "O God, My Faithful God" is a fitting prayer for our Christian lives as we seek God as the source of all perfect gifts. Finally, we remember that Christian discipleship is "preserved and perfected by the Spirit"; thus, we will sing several hymns imploring the Holy Spirit's sanctifying grace.
The fourth Sunday after Trinity Divine Worship Service, at 8:00am will be live streamed on St. Paul's Facebook and YouTube streaming services.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Please join us this Sunday morning, June 21, 2026, at 8:00am and 10:45am for the third Sunday after Trinity Divine Worship Services. The Sunday of The Lost Sheep “The Repentance Wrought by the Spirit”
“This man receives sinners and eats with them.” - Luke 15:1-10
Welcome to all members and visitors! We are pleased to have you with us as we receive Christ's gifts and as we respond in thanks and praise.
The Sermon: “This man goes searching” - Luke 15:1-10
Kantor Notes: The Third Sunday after Trinity teaches us how Jesus calls us to
repentance by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus seeks after us through His Word,
calling us to Him in faith. In turn, His church reflects Jesus’ seeking love in its
mission to the world. Our hymns and service music this morning reflect the theme
of repentance and mission. The Hymn of Invocation reminds us that we did not
choose God but that He chose us (LSB 573). The Hymn of the Day reminds us that
“Jesus, Sinners Doth Receive” (LSB 609). The Hymn of Departure (LSB 837)
reminds us of our privilege to lift Christ’s message before the world.
In keeping with the theme of repentance, today’s prelude includes settings on the
beautiful Lutheran Chorale “O Sinner, Come Thy Sin to Mourn.” (ELH 272)
“O sinner, come thy sin to mourn, So vast and vile that it has borne Christ to this
vale of anguish; Son of a Virgin, sweet and mild In poverty the Holy Child, Thy
Substitute, did languish; Behold with faith, God’s only Son! Come nigh and see
what Love has done To save thee from damnation; The Father cast on Him thy guilt,
For thee His precious blood was spilt, To bless thee with salvation.”
The third Sunday after Trinity Divine Worship Service, at 8:00am will be live streamed on St. Paul's Facebook and YouTube streaming services.

One of our joys at St. Paul's is to use the familiar liturgies of Lutheran Service Book each Divine Service. The tried and true texts of the liturgy, drawn from Holy Scripture, unite past and present, young and old, as we receive Christ's gifts of grace and forgiveness. After a recent Divine Service, members remarked how they appreciated the sweet voice of a 4-year-old member, joining in clearly, "Lamb of God, that takest away the sin of the world, have mercy upon us." May her example inspire us all to join vigorously and gladly as we together sing of Christ!

Dear Friends in Christ,
Please join us this Sunday morning, June 14, 2026, at 8:00am and 10:45am for the Second Sunday after Trinity Divine Worship Services. The Sunday of The Great Banquet "The Spirit's Call to Fellowship with God"
'…Come, for everything is now ready.' - Luke 14:17
Welcome to all members and visitors! We are pleased to have you with us as we receive Christ's gifts and as we respond in thanks and praise.
The Sermon: "Love in deed and truth." - 1 John 3:13-18
Service Notes:
The Second Sunday after Trinity teaches another element of the Christian faith, that is, the love of God is for all people. Clearly seen in the parable of the Great Banquet, the message is for everyone. John's teaching in his epistle continues on the theme of God's love for all, yet teaches that in order for it to be known by all, Christians have to declare it just the same. Rather than act like Pharisees, John teaches that Christians should follow up what they say and act in accord to what is true. In this way, is very instructional. Today's sermon will take the form of instruction. (Maybe the introduction should relate to "Instruction" somehow.)
The Second Sunday after Trinity Divine Worship Service, at 8:00am will be live streamed on St. Paul's Facebook and YouTube streaming services.

Alleluia! Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed Alleluia!
Please join us this Sunday morning, May 17, 2026, at 8:00am and 10:45am for Exaudi Sunday Divine Worship Services. "But when the Helper comes, he will bear witness about me." - John 15:26
Welcome to all members and visitors! We are pleased to have you with us as we receive Christ's gifts and as we respond in thanks and praise.
The Sermon: "He Will Bear Witness About Me" - John 15:26-16:4
Kantor's Notes: From the forthcoming Hymns of the Season Vol 6 (David's Harp)
"Like a Golden Sun Ascending"
Because Jesus rose from the grave, we too will rise from the dead. St. Paul refers to Christ as the first of what is to follow: "But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep." (1 Corinthians 15:20) This reality gives great comfort to those who have lost loved ones who died in Christ. We someday will be raised together with them and see Christ face to face!
What does this mean for us in our response toward Jesus? As a person is thankful to a doctor who saves his or her life, how much more are we thankful to Jesus for giving us life that lasts forever! Accordingly, our hymnwriter includes expressions of thanksgiving for this reality. As we remember Jesus' word for us and as we receive Jesus' gifts of life in His Word and Sacraments, we, too, adore and praise Him. Thus, our hymnwriter exclaims, "Lord, I thank Thee and extol Thee, And in heav'n I shall behold Thee."

Welcome to all members and visitors! We are pleased to have you with us as we receive Christ's gifts and as we respond in thanks and praise.
The Sermon: "Jesus Has Gone to the Father" - Isaiah 12:1-6
Kantor’s Notes: Today's Hymn of the Day is a hymn by Martin Luther paraphrasing and explaining the Lord's Prayer; thus it is known as one of Luther's "Catechism Hymns." Just as he does in his Catechisms, Luther wants us to understand what we are praying so that we don't pray without thought but "from our inmost hearts" (st. 1). Each stanza explains a petition, ending in the final stanza with a bold "Amen."
Today's prelude, offering, and postlude are all based on this classic Lutheran chorale. You may wish to meditate on the hymn (LSB 766) as you listen to the prelude and compare it to Luther's explanation in the Small Catechism (LSB 323-325).

Dear Friends in Christ,
Alleluia! Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed Alleluia!
Please join us this Sunday morning, May 3, 2026, at 8:00am and 10:45am for Cantate Sunday Divine Worship Services. “Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth .” - Isaiah 12:5
Welcome to all members and visitors! We are pleased to have you with us as we receive Christ's gifts and as we respond in thanks and praise.
The Sermon: “Proclaim the Wonders God Has Done” - Isaiah 12:1-6
Kantor’s Notes: The title for today’s service, Cantate, means “to sing” and is drawn from our Introit, “Sing to the Lord a new song” (Ps. 98:1a). Today’s hymns, including the appointed Hymn of the Day, “Dear Christians, One and All, Rejoice,” reflect this theme. Dating from 1523, “Dear Christians, One and All, Rejoice” was Luther’s second hymn and was including in the 1524 “Achtliederbuch,” the first Lutheran hymnal. The tune also was likely original with Luther and sturdily reflects the Christian’s joy. Today’s bulletin cover image, created for David’s Harp to reflect this hymn, shows children gladly singing and serves as a wonderful encouragement to us all to sing boldly and gladly in light of the Gospel!
We joyfully welcome Anna Lynn Liddick, Leo Daniel Liddick, Silas Lee Liddick, and Ian Ross Liddick, grandchildren of Tommy and Ashly Knipe, into the family of God through the Rite of Holy Baptism during the 10:45am Divine Service today.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Alleluia! Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed Alleluia!
Please join us this Sunday morning, April 26, 2026, at 8:00am and 10:45am for Jubilate Sunday Divine Worship Services. "So also, you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you." - John 16:22
Welcome to all members and visitors! We are pleased to have you with us as we receive Christ's gifts and as we respond in thanks and praise.
The Sermon: "You Will See Me" - John 16:16-23
Kantor's Notes: The title for the 4th Sunday of Easter, Jubilate, comes from the opening words of the Introit, "Shout for joy to God, all the earth." (Ps. 66) Today's Hymn of the Day, accordingly, uses this word: "With high delight Let us unite In songs of great jubilation." (LSB 483:1) Likewise, our Hymn of Invocation declares, "Break forth, hosts of heaven, in jubilant song." (LSB 480:1) Why do we break forth into such jubilant song? Our sermon text provides an answer: because Jesus is risen, our eyes will see Him once again! Hence, the selected stanzas of "Jesus Christ, My Sure Defense" (LSB 741) sung after the sermon declare this reality: "In this flesh I then shall see Jesus Christ eternally."
