Every divorce is a warning to those who are in marriage Before you point fingers or think, "That could never happen to us," remember this: every couple that ended in divorce was once in love. They smiled at each other. They held hands. They went on dates. They dreamed about growing old together. They stood before family, friends, and God, promising to love one another until death separated them. No one walks down the aisle planning to divorce. Many of them believed their marriage would be different. They believed they would overcome every challenge. They believed their love would never grow cold. Yet somewhere along the journey, they stopped guarding what God had entrusted to them. Little compromises became big problems. Small offenses became deep wounds. Pride replaced humility. Silence replaced communication. Distance replaced intimacy. Prayer became optional. Forgiveness became difficult. Before they knew it, the enemy had found an open door. The Bible warns us in 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV): "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." Notice that Peter did not tell us to panic. He told us to be sober and vigilant. Why? Because we have an enemy who is always looking for an opportunity. The devil hates marriages because marriage reflects God's covenant. He knows that a healthy marriage glorifies God, raises godly children, strengthens families, and becomes a testimony of God's faithfulness. His assignment has never changed—to steal, to kill, and to destroy. If he cannot stop your marriage from beginning, he will try to destroy it from within. He will use pride, unforgiveness, anger, lust, emotional distance, financial pressure, comparison, selfishness, temptation, poor communication, and anything else he can to create division. You cannot stop the devil from doing his assignment, but you can stop him from succeeding in your #TeamMarriage. Guard your words. Some words can wound more deeply than a physical blow. Speak life over your spouse instead of constant criticism. Guard your heart. Do not allow bitterness to take root. Deal with offenses quickly before they become strongholds. Guard your eyes. Protect your marriage from lust, pornography, emotional affairs, and every form of unfaithfulness. Guard your ears. Do not entertain voices that constantly encourage you to give up instead of fighting for your covenant. Protect your communication. Learn to listen before you respond. Speak with love, respect, and patience. Pray together even when you don't feel like it. A couple that kneels together before God is strengthened to stand together before life's battles. Forgive quickly. Don't keep score. Don't let yesterday's argument become next year's bitterness. Choose humility over being right. Sometimes winning an argument can cost you peace in your marriage. Encourage one another. Life is already difficult enough without becoming enemies in your own home. Remember that your spouse is not your enemy. The battle is not against flesh and blood. Don't allow Satan to convince you that the person you vowed to love is the one you must defeat. Fight the real enemy, not each other. A strong marriage is not one that has never faced storms. Every marriage will be tested. Every marriage will experience difficult seasons. The difference is that strong marriages keep running back to God, keep choosing forgiveness, keep communicating, keep praying, and keep refusing to give the devil a foothold. If you are blessed with a healthy marriage today, don't become careless. Don't neglect it. Continue investing in it. Continue praying for it. Continue protecting it. There is a trend on TikTok where people post worship teams from different churches and compare them. "This church has better vocals." "That church has better lights." "This worship team has more energy." "That one sounds more professional." I am not despising excellence. Excellence matters. If God has given us gifts, we should develop them. Musicians should practice. Singers should train their voices. Instrumentalists should become skillful. Media teams should improve. There is nothing wrong with excellence. But sometimes I look at these comparison videos and I see something deeper than excellence. I see a competitive spirit quietly creeping into the Body of Christ. The church was never meant to become a competition. We were never called to outshine one another. We were called to glorify Christ. It grieves my heart when worship is reduced to who has the best singers, the best keyboardist, the best drummer, the biggest stage, the loudest crowd, or the most viral worship clip. Some people are now choosing churches primarily because the worship team sounds good. And while there is nothing wrong with appreciating beautiful music, may God give us discernment. A church is not a concert venue. A worship service is not an audition. The presence of God cannot be measured by vocal arrangements or expensive instruments. There are churches with simple speakers, one old keyboard, no smoke machines, no LED screens, and yet the presence of God is undeniable. There are also churches with world-class production but little hunger for God. The Holy Spirit is not attracted by expensive equipment. He responds to surrendered hearts. We should ask ourselves difficult questions. Am I looking for God's presence, or am I looking for a performance? Am I choosing a church because Christ is being preached faithfully, or because the music sounds better than somewhere else? Has worship become entertainment without us realizing it? Social media has a way of making everything a competition, but the Kingdom of God operates differently. Your worship team is not competing against another church's worship team. Your choir is not in a league table. Your church is not trying to win an award against another ministry. We are one Body with one Lord, one faith, and one purpose. Instead of comparing churches, let us pray for them. Instead of creating unnecessary rivalries, let us celebrate what God is doing in every assembly that faithfully lifts up the name of Jesus Christ. Support excellence, yes. Pursue skillfulness, yes. Practice until you become better, yes. But never let excellence replace dependence on the Holy Spirit. Never let performance replace worship. Never let applause become more important than God's approval. May the Lord give us understanding in these days. May He raise worshippers who seek His face more than they seek recognition. May our churches become known not just for great music, but for genuine repentance, sound doctrine, transformed lives, and the unmistakable presence of Jesus Christ. Because at the end of the day, heaven is not looking for the most impressive worship team. Heaven is looking for hearts that truly worship the Father in spirit and in truth.

They tried to uproot you because you didn’t look like their version of “holy.” But they forgot something… God’s garden was never filled with the pristine and perfect. It’s always been full of the broken, the wounded, the overlooked, and the misunderstood. The ones people judged, are the very ones God chose. So don’t shrink to fit their standard. Bloom anyway. ✨ God never needed you to be perfect… just willing. 🗣️🙌🏽

Johnson Sr. was more than a businessman — he proved that a $250 loan, vision, and discipline could build a Black hair‑care empire that changed how we see ourselves. From Afro Sheen to Ultra Sheen, his work put a Black‑owned company on the American Stock Exchange and helped make our hair, our look, and our culture non‑negotiable in the marketplace. We honor his life, his legacy, and the doors he forced open for the rest of us. George E. Johnson Sr. passed at age 99 on July 6, 2026. May what he built keep building.
