for any — ANY — Russian speaker, bombing Odessa should be as disgusting, scary and blasphemous as bombing St Petersburg. Someone is doing it, however, and these lowlifes also speak Russian.

Russia has destroyed the largest orthodox cathedral in Odesa. The cathedral was built in 1794. In 1936 it was destroyed by the Soviets. In 2005, independent Ukraine restored it. Now Russia destroyed it again. It is the 80th important cathedral or church destroyed by Russia

There is no requirement to not have any particular status - enslaved, imprisoned, bankrupt, deceased, committed, stateless, wanted, sanctioned, terrorist watch list, whatever. But, some of those things may make it difficult to communicate with the USPTO and pay the fees. (Fin)

So who can be a listed inventor on a US patent application? Absolutely anyone. There is no requirement to be a citizen of anywhere or be located anywhere. There is no minimum or maximum age (though, modernly, older inventors get prioritized examination) (5/n)

This is from the middle of a fantastic thread debunking the "slaves learned trades" thing (the particular individuals weren't actually slaves), but an interesting point is that the US patent system has never, as far as I know, limited who can be an inventor. (1/n)

The second name is Henry Blair, also listed as a blacksmith. There is no evidence Henry Blair was ever enslaved, and the fact he could register patents is evidence he was not in fact ever enslaved. blackpast.org/african-americ…
