Hey Spencer - glad you asked. #zocdoc has moved to charge provider $60-$110 per booking. The average margin a doctor gets on a visit is 20% (avg insurance payment = $140, making $14). We would have to see a patient a dozen times to cover their new fees.

Just got a note that my Allergist is leaving @Zocdoc due to "a radical new pricing model that would lead to exorbitant fees to our Practice and could lead to legal problems." Anyone have insights here.

Our practice will certainly stop using it. We are in-network - we would have to see a patient many many times to make the $80 fee to pay #zocdoc. I do think that many doctors will move away from it. It will be be valuable only to OON doctors.

@stopzoc With such high booking fees, this will deter practices from listing insurances they accept that have lower reimbursement rates. In fact, ZocDoc itself has banned patients with Medicare and Medicaid plans from being able to book appointments in New York using its website.

It is a shake down; and illegal per federal laws (CMS fee splitting law - that why they aren't booking Medicare/Medicaid). Is a patient ok knowing that the doc they chose #zocdoc paid for the lead?

Patients willingness to disclose every medical visit that they have, their insurance info, and medical history to a third party amazes us. Dosclosing medical history on #zocdoc is not disclosing it to the doctor, it is disclosing it to Silicone Valley.

An in-network doctor is making around $20 per visit. #zocdoc wants $85 for that visit. The doctor would have to induce the patient to return more frequently or do more test on the patient to make up the money. (or charge the booking fee to the patient)

Patients are starting to take notice. Doctors willing to pay $85 per patient, will be on #zocdoc. That should worry a patient, enter #zocdoc and your a lead that is being traded.

Dear Patient: You were brought as a "lead" - thats how you ended up in this practice. The doctor was willing to pay $65 - as your "lifetime value" to the practice is so much!

We are very concerned with this concept in #zocdoc new pricing. A competitor down the street can no-show me a bunch of times, or a disgruntled patient that I didn't give controlled drugs to can have a bunch of friends no-show me. @NYCDocs

@oliver_kharraz @Zocdoc Oliver - still trying to figure out why the providers get charged for a no-show new patient? with the ease of the site for bookings, sometimes patients are quick to show up. After 24 hours, the provider is on the hook for the 60-. Why?
