Every deposit that goes into the Kraken DeFi Earn vaults lands on Ink. In many cases the capital is then bridged somewhere else for yield, but Ink is still acting as the Hub. If it became a priority, they could create yield opportunities on Ink and the vaults could instantly capture those opportunities. That's what is really powerful about cross-chain vaults in a new ecosystem

The pace of adoption for @krakenfx BTC Earn has shocking. $233M across 20k users within one month has exceeded all of my expectations. @SentoraHQ has been crushing the curation game. What this proves is the immense latent demand for BTC yield in enterprise. Unlike dollar-based yield programs, there is really no alternative in the market. My unproven thesis is that centralized BTC yield offerings are less attractive to BTC holders because of the counterparty risk and trust assumptions they introduce. Non-custodial solutions built on DeFi rails preserve the control that BTC holders require while enabling a transparent source of yield (though not risk-free, of course). I imagine every enterprise sitting on a large amount of BTC is closely watching this product

Kraken Earn vaults have hit over $500M in deposits, after only 5 months since their launch in January Kraken's latest BTC earn vault in particular has seen the most rapid growth, hitting $233M in deposits in its ~1 month since its launch in May

Most RWAs today are actually worse products than the underlying fund because of the common wrapper model. We took an already complex traditional structure and just naively layered tokenization on top. The result is something more convoluted and less accessible than even the legacy products its trying to replace. The solution is to integrate blockchain capabilities directly into the components of the fund. This is what a fully native fund means. Congrats to @TFGolden and the BG team on the launch of BAGEY. It's amazing to see one of the largest asset managers in the world innovating from first principles

@Castick7 The wrapper model had its place as a POC for what tokenization can unlock but it's time to get back to first principles

Stani’s vision for rebuilding securities finance on Aave V4 is a compeling example of how onchain markets are a natural evolution of traditional markets. The hub-and-spoke model maps well onto repo, securities lending, and securities-backed credit. It is also, IMO, a powerful argument for vault infrastructure. Not everyone needs a vault. Sophisticated users who want a single exposure should be able to access protocols directly. But once a product involves choosing among markets, selecting and moving collateral, managing borrowing and liquidity, rebalancing positions, or enforcing risk and compliance parameters, vaults become the critical infrastructure layer for most users. This also shows why the vault layer should not be tied to one protocol. Different assets and strategies may be better suited to shared liquidity pools, isolated lending markets, or other venues. The winning application layer will be credibly neutral and multi-protocol, able to move capital to wherever it can be deployed most effectively. In other words, protocols are building the markets, but vaults turn those markets into usable products.

I have to imagine I am not the only founder who feels a renewed sense of ambition with Elon becoming a trillionaire. It is almost unfathomable what a single person can accomplish with an untethered ambition and a willingness to sacrifice everything. People laugh when Elon says he is going to put a million people on Mars in his lifetime, but he actually believes it and at some point you have to too

@KyleSamani @alive_ Another way to reduce human coordination is to consolidate under a single leader (as is typical for startups / companies). This is exactly what is happening to most DAOs

In spite of the favorable regulatory environment and new possibilities with AI, we are sadly seeing less and less experimentation within DeFi/crypto. This is a function of (1) fewer venture dollars going to the early stage, and (2) the natural customer for this technology being institutions. The bull case is that as crypto adoption goes exponential through enterprise distribution, we see a resurgence of interest in the category and novel financial experimentation
