Oloye Lekan Alabi(Ile Ajẹngbẹ), the Abese of Ibadanland , has breathed his last and bid farewell to Ibadan, the city he loved so dearly and spent a large part of his life celebrating, documenting, and promoting. This is not just a loss to Ibadan; it is a huge loss to Yorubaland and the entire media family. Oloye Lekan Alabi was more than a veteran journalist. He was a respected author, public relations icon, cultural ambassador, and one of the finest custodians of Ibadan’s history and Yoruba heritage. Through journalism, public service, and his unwavering commitment to preserving our culture, he left footprints that time can never erase. I count myself privileged to have shared the stage with him on many occasions. Every encounter was a learning experience. He spoke with wisdom, humility, and an uncommon passion for history and culture. You could listen to him for hours and still want to hear more. Though his voice is now silent, his legacy will continue to inspire journalists, communicators, historians, and lovers of Yoruba culture for generations to come. Your memories, your wisdom, and your contributions will never be forgotten, we will continue from where you stop, just like you have always wanted.. Rest Well, Oloye Lekan Alabi.
