@fozadoza My own is We no even dey the room because we no position ourselves as owners. If we don’t retain IP, what exactly should or will anybody collect for us? Our current structure automatically removes us from royalty and levy conversations. If we don’t own, we can’t be included.

I’m triggered. We complain that our predecessors couldn’t unite. Yes they let ego and popularity ruin structure and their vision. So what exactly are we doing differently in 2026? With all these information we have?! IRE O!
The quicker we insert ourselves into IP conversations, the better. Ownership is power. Structure is how we can activate it. Conversation is currency. Directors in Nigeria and across Africa, we need to organise. Not for ego. For economics. This is no more a popularity contest!
This is about being recognised as an ownership class in the creative economy. If we are not building structures, we will always be contractors. In Hollywood, directors negotiate backend.They form guilds.They build companies.They sit in policy rooms.We need that level of thinking!
The law did not exclude us directors The structure did. If we do not retain rights, co produce, or own through your company, we are continually going to be invisible in policy conversations. This is bigger than shoot money. Stay with me o!
That structure keeps us outside every long term revenue ecosystem. Labels are arguing! CMOs are arguing. Representatives are arguing! Because they own IP! We Directors / Filmmakers can’t even have a conversation. Because why?? We do not own shit! 🤡
