@CalEvans I really enjoyed PHPBenelux 2013 in Antwerp. It was my first conference, and first time in Europe. ZendCon in Santa Clara that year was also really fun. Getting a tour of Facebook's headquarters from Sara Golemon is one of my fondest memories of the PHP community.

This is how you ended up with 14 more intrusive things in your day. You were ambivalent because the added intrusion was a small proportion of existing intrusion. Flock doesn't just not prevent crime, it creates crime. Because you, a law-abiding citizen, know that the criminals won't be charged, but you might be for defending yourself, the fact that you are universally being recorded by Flock cameras means that you cannot ever defend yourself safely. The criminals know you're at a legal disadvantage, and so are emboldened. There will be a record of you kicking the person slightly too hard. When you struggle over the knife and decide that the safest action is to stab them in the chest, there will be no mistaking it for an accident. When you push them away because it's obvious they're trying to rob you, it'll look like you're the one instigating violence.

I can't use it, it makes me feel motion sick. Particularly, at the start of each scroll motion there are some frame skips or delays, which make it hard to track text on the screen.

@KentonVarda @GooglePlay Torrenting remains the correct method of acquiring content. Pay the author, but don't trust their distributor not to fuck it up and degrade the book. This is also how you avoid reading sensitivity edited revisions, since they're cryptographically verified.

ZKFV would be an interesting project. rocq already has a stack based virtual machine with a relatively constrained instruction set. You could probably produce an arithmetization of the opcodes and verify them.

Indeed, absolutely. FV is the new ZK in that it's been around for many years, but we've never quite been able to make it work until very recently. ZK used to be a novelty in math, until GROTH16 made it efficient and practical. Even then, it took blockchains and smart contracts to make it useful. FV has been a novelty in programming and math for many years. It's only with the advent of coding AI that FV has become efficient and practical. FV and ZK are extremely complementary, and I even expect to see ZKFV before long, where you can prove that an FV program compiles, has no admitted, relies on certain axioms, and is parameterized with certain public inputs.

Fun fact. Other, now destroyed conjectures are: the Hessian conjecture, the Poisson conjecture, the Dixmier conjecture, the cubic-homogeneous and Drużkowski forms of the Jacobian conjecture, and Zhao’s vanishing conjecture. This is because the counterexample to the Jacobian conjecture can either be transformed directly into counterexamples to these statements or combined with established equivalence and reduction theorems. (Also, I have no idea what I’m doing, but thanks gpt-5.6 Pro.)

My theory is that during the Great Awokening, a primary, intentional political strategy was to bake in ideological change by maximizing the destructive effect of reversing the changes. On the immigration front, they distributed illegal immigrants widely into every nook and cranny. They loaded those people into critical industries like trucking, agriculture, government services, and other places where a sudden reduction in workforce would be *extremely disruptive*. In trucking, if you suddenly deport all of the illegals and shut down the trucking companies that hired them, you'll suddenly have issues with the supply chain. If I recall correctly, they say this with USPS. They initially decided to get rid of illegals transporting US mail, and then had to walk it back when they realized that they'd literally break the mail system. So many issues are going to be like this. It's going to be immensely painful to fix the problems that the woke movement caused, because it's designed to be. It's much the same with walking back laws and policies that discriminated against white and asian people. If you acknowledge that this was indeed illegal discrimination, you suddenly create a massive swell of litigation.

@deancureton A tricky thing here is that now that we know of the counter-example, any attempts to formalize the *discovery* of it are poisoned. That is, unless the OP provides his own session history, we don't know how the model actually found its way to the solution.
