So here we go again with the "leaks." And yet again, it's coming from the usual suspects. As a reminder, these guys apparently had leaks a few days after Rebirth. If that were really the case, why were they wrong about parallel worlds, multiplicity in part 3 or AC following on from Re-Trilogy? Why were they so shocked by Hamaguchi's statements? Why were they shocked to hear that Tifa wasn't the main character of part 3? And who is doing the leaks? SE uses heavy compartmentalisation/silo working to ensure only a very few senior people have access to the bigger picture. That means that if leaks do occur, SE will likely be able to identify, within five or six people, who leaked. If you were an SE staff member and you knew all this, would you really leak to one of the most indiscreet individuals on the Web? There is a reason leaks only occurred previously around awards, physical copy early release, marketing or redundancy. That's when it moved out of the stewardship of SE (Japan) and over to less scrupulous third parties or upset individuals. Yes, there may be leaks around upcoming trailers, but you are not going to have fundamental spoilers for the game at this point. Especially not from 'those' guys.

But Hamaguchi's statements have just proved many of the CT expectations for part 3, completely incorrect - whether that's OG and Re-Trilogy being the same world to Multverses not existing, to AC leading on from these games to Tifa being the most important character in part 3. Are you going to acknowledge that? Are YOU going to change?

No. The devs are telling you that Aerith knows what is about to happen and she's confused/saddened that this is the last time she will be with Cloud. She's putting on a brave face, forcing herself to have fun. But given that Cloud knows Aerith by now, he can see right through her facade. You think the way he screams "Aerith" as he is pushed into the vortex, suggests he thinks she's weird?

Gloomy shoe, the problem with this take is that you and the CT groupthink have got so much wrong going into part 3 - if we are to believe Hamaguchi, at least. - There is to be choice in who Cloud spends his time with - Multiverse exists - OG and Re-Trilogy worlds are different - Re-Trilogy most likely won't culminate in AC Both romantic relationships are valid These all run contrary to the fundamental beliefs you guys have held, up to this point. Given that's the case, what makes you an authority on anything part 3 related? Especially if you think Cody giving his personal opinion constitutes him risking his reputation!

Not everything has to be a teen drama or angsty. It's a little odd that you quote Disney, given that the kiss was quite literally on a Disney ride!

Yea, it's also worth remembering how such romances/relationships are built. These dates are not meant to be viewed in isolation, despite the chapter select element. They are meant to reflect a player journey with said character. That's why kissing Tifa isn't an option if all you've done is spent time with Aerith. These narrative paths are designed to be the culmination of a beautiful journey, which is why it's false to say Cloud would do any of these things on the same night. It's the result of player impact. Player choice. There is no canon (yet), but Aerith's is the narratively weightier one, better fit and most likely the intended or dev favoured path, given that it was used in all major marketing beats, the end credits, EC etc.
