The Treasury says it wasn't paid off until 2015. So if your family paid British tax before then, they helped buy 800,000 people their freedom. From 1808 the Royal Navy spent 60 years hunting slave ships at sea: 1,600 stopped, 150,000 people freed, and 1,600 British sailors dead, mostly of disease, buried thousands of miles from home. ⚓ In 1816 they ended two centuries of Barbary corsairs enslaving Europeans. In 1896 a war that lasted 38 minutes ended slavery in Zanzibar. 🇹🇿 Almost every country on Earth outlaws slavery today. That fight was paid for largely at British expense, by British hands.🇬🇧 So why haven't you heard any of this? Because within living memory, someone rewrote the story. You got taught the crime. Let's try reading comprehension. I never said Trump is a racist. I said a single UN expert committee (CERD) criticized his rhetoric -- which is not the same as the UN itself officially naming him a racist. You’re doing exactly what Safa did: inflating a partisan panel into "the United Nations" for rhetorical effect. That’s the misleading part. if you could emerge from your cookies and your self made reality distortion field you would understand that the UN, as an institution, has never passed a resolution declaring Trump a racist. But what it has done is failed for years to seriously address actual genocides in Sudan, DRC, China’s Uyghur camps, etc. Try engaging with the actual argument instead of name-calling. The people celebrating America’s 250th aren’t buying your deranged and misinformed crap anymore.

Nothing says "out of touch" like posting an unhinged and uninformed screed on the day America celebrated her 250th with massive crowds, military flyovers, and record fireworks on the National Mall. January 6 was ugly. Summer 2020’s sustained riots, cop-killings, and billion-dollar arson spree were a national disgrace you shrugged off. Religious freedom is under attack by the side mandating pronoun policies and targeting Christian schools -- not people who love both their faith and their country. The American Dream was crushed by the last Administration via sky-high housing, near record inflation, energy dependence and endless regulation -- not billionaires who risk their capital and employ millions (ask those anonymous SpaceX employees how they feel). Trump actually tried to restore it. Jesus dined with sinners and flipped tables on the powerful. He never preached open borders, child mutilation, or hatred of America. MAGA didn’t defile America. It exposes and fights the real rot. you claim you are in the political center but you literally just stated that more than half the country are not American. 47 showed up big for 250. To the Americans: I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States. And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness: You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence. This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns. Success is equated with exploitation. Ambition is looked upon with contempt. This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom. But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated. This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet. And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America: Thank God for the United States. Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
