@vikx01 @ronmortgageguy basically for typical 5yr fixed mortgage, treasury will hedge cash flows at current rate for effective duration. this duration is in turn an output of a model and can change depending on market factors like rates, slope of yield curve, attrition/prepayment outlooks, etc.

@vikx01 @ronmortgageguy Duration is managed at behavioral life of mortgage (3.5yrs roughly) rather than amortized life. Also variable rate loans are held at overnight cost of funds, so as long as u have similar deposits on other side of balance sheet, it doesnt matter.
