People have a hard time realizing that if someone is being standoffish and terse with you it's usually not because they're thoughtless automaton NPCs without interiority but usually because they judged you and think you're subhuman and are treating you like shit on purpose

@TheTumboy this is a result of competition based systems they put in for the stores drive-thru. they only have sensors at the menu board and window, and stores will get penalized if they let someone sit at either one for too long, they're gaming a losing system

It’s really effective but the therapist is supposed to do a lot of safety/regulation planning before the active trauma processing even starts so clients can get the full benefit without derailing their life

Avoiding traumatic memories is part of what keeps PTSD going!!! EMDR helps the brain reprocess the memories so they become something that has passed rather than something that still feels like it’s happening!! It’s one of the most effective treatments available!!
