@animeupdates I think I have a bootleg DVD copy of this (and Diebuster), and I’d to get an official physical version of them eventually! At the same time, I’m glad I can access either one of these & enjoy how amazing they are! Gunbuster & Diebuster aren’t on any streaming service, are they?

@BeatemupsWood Nintendo seems like the only platform holder in the console space to still care about their game lineup! Microsoft & Sony have both been really scattershot & boring this generation. Hi-Fi Rush & the future prospects of what Bluepoint could make were highlights but that’s gone now

@BigSwissCHH @DragonQuest All of those have a similar core progression, but there’s not one that combines all the good elements together into one package! It may be worth investigating the differences but if that doesn’t matter to you I’d say try to pick up the HD-2D remakes of DQ I & 2 and go from there!

@BigSwissCHH @DragonQuest The HD-2D Remakes of DQ I-III are widely accessible, and are a good option! Not sure how spoiler-averse you are, but the first three DQ games have a bunch of different incarnations Famicom/NES, Super Famicom/SNES, GBC, a badly-regarded mobile version, & the newest HD-2D remakes!

@animathias Bomberman 64 is an AMAZING game to me! I get people often want what they’re used to in a long-running series, but it can be useful to branch out from there! I recall Bomberman 64 still having multiplayer & it being fun to play as well! The OST/soundscape in this is iconic to me~

@BigSwissCHH @DragonQuest That equipment-switching thing isn’t in all DQ games, but it’s pretty dang common! The games have a silly & serious tone which is nice, too! The consistency of sound effects in the series might seem antiquated at first, but it’s cool to me that DQ XI uses SFX from the first DQ!

@BigSwissCHH @DragonQuest I think the turn-based battles are really fun, as well! I enjoy turn-based games even now, & I’m glad that they made so many games like that! The way that you can change equipment mid-battle, for example to multitarget with a whip instead of using MP on a spell is handy!
