These locations have witnessed rapid urbanisation over the last decade, with the development of numerous high-rise residential projects and a significant increase in population. They are also home to one of India’s largest IT hubs, where thousands of professionals work in hybrid and work-from-home arrangements. Frequent electricity interruptions are causing severe hardship to residents and employees by: * Disrupting work-from-home and business operations. * Interrupting internet connectivity and online meetings. * Affecting lifts, water pumps and essential services in high-rise buildings. * Creating inconvenience for senior citizens, children and patients. * Causing productivity losses for employees and organisations. As Maharashtra continues to position itself as the country’s leading IT investment destination, uninterrupted and reliable electricity has become a critical infrastructure requirement rather than a basic utility. We respectfully request your intervention to: 1. Conduct a comprehensive technical audit of the electricity distribution network in Wakad, Ravet, Hinjawadi, Baner and adjoining areas. 2. Upgrade substations, transformers, feeders and distribution lines to meet the increasing demand. 3. Strengthen the power infrastructure considering future residential and commercial growth. 4. Establish a preventive maintenance and monitoring mechanism to minimise unplanned outages. 5. Publish a long-term infrastructure augmentation plan along with timelines for implementation. We are confident that your timely intervention will significantly improve the quality of life for lakhs of residents and ensure uninterrupted operations for Maharashtra’s IT workforce. Pune's garbage collection system is facing a massive crisis, and the reason behind it is absolutely shocking. Out of over 10,000 workers assigned to keep our city clean, only about 40% are actually doing their jobs on the ground. A detailed internal report by the solid waste management department reveals that around 450 to 500 sanitation workers are allegedly deployed at the private residences of political leaders, including MLAs, corporators, and former office-bearers. Instead of cleaning the streets, these municipal employees are reportedly being used for personal duties like housekeeping and driving, all while drawing their full salaries from the taxpayer-funded PMC budget. What makes it worse is that this isn't a new issue. The investigation shows that some workers have been completely absent from their original cleaning postings for 5 to 10 years. Even though a detailed report on this mess was submitted to senior civic officials last year, political pressure and frequent transfers of senior officers have successfully delayed any concrete action. Pune’s disastrous traffic situation is a classic case of the broken window effect. The system has collapsed because small violations became normalised. Every single day, thousands break basic traffic rules with absolutely no fear of consequences. And why would they? Traffic police are barely visible & enforcement is practically nonexistent. Can we please stop ‘study tours’ and foreign junkets of MLAs, MPs, ministers and bureaucrats first? At least common citizens travel abroad on their own money, AFTER paying a whopping 33% as taxes. Babus and politicians travel abroad on study tours on taxpayers’ money. @narendramodi ji, this message is not really fair. Govt should lead by example, instead of always asking citizens to make the change.

My appeal to PM Modi- In order to save petrol & diesel, please make it mandatory for bureaucrats, MLAs & MPs to use public buses and metro instead of large convoys. It will also be a good opportunity for them to experience world-class infrastructure they are building for us.

I remember interning at a company & there was a major electricity shortage. At the same time, several CNC machines still had to run to meet delivery deadlines. To manage the situation, the management decided to cut down the use of ACs. CEO was the first to sit in the workshop without AC. Everyone followed him & for a week, nobody used AC. That’s how leadership should be- leading by example. So if PM Modi wants people to use metros instead of cars, then ministers should lead from the front. Let them use only metros & buses for next few months. Why should only the public sacrifice? Are ministers & babus not part of this country?

Few weeks back residents held a meeting with PMC officials & owners of the food stalls outside Kamala Nehru Park & coporators from our ward. Residents want the footpaths available to them to access the park. During the meeting we learnt that there are no illegal stalls outside KNP because all 34 are conveniently “licensed.” All 34!! PMC hands out permits like candy, generously & extending permission to operate on the footpath as well. No accountability no checks on hygiene, safety, or even whether these stalls operate within the terms of their licenses. LPG cylinders blaze away next to a children’s park, unchecked! Leftover food is dumped into the stormwater drains outside the park, filling the air with stench & creating conditions ripe for disease. On any given day there are 2 adjacent rows of 2 wheelers parked in front of the stalls. On the road. No Footpath, no road. The same situation is spreading on BMCC road & Bhandarkar Ins Road.

Totally in agreement with @PMOIndia on curtailing travel, fuel use etc. If it’s a global crisis, and beyond our control, self discipline will be the best foot forward. However, I also have a suggestion for @narendramodi ji. 🙏 Sir, collectively we have close to 5000 MLAs and MPs in India. Whenever they move, official vehicles aside, they are accompanied by hordes of followers and supporters. Never seen even an MLA with less than 5-8 vehicle convoy. And sometimes these cavalcades run into hundreds of vehicles. And political leaders, across parties, travel daily to multiple locations. The convoys never shorten nor stop. You can add 2-3 independent vehicle convoys to immediate families of entire number too, just for calculations. Collectively, we are talking about hundreds and thousands of vehicles daily, running for no apparent reason other than accompanying the leader and ‘to be seen’, and clocking millions of miles each day. Sir, if you can direct these leaders, to cut down these illogical miles, it not only would help the present initiative, but also set a case for better future where twenty cars with horns blaring on roads don’t push commoners like us aside because the leader has to travel by supersonic speed to fashionably arrive late at his / her next function. You’ve been a common citizen like us. You didn’t inherit the chair and power. I’m sure you understand the sheer insult and disgust we feel when bulky bouncers and cops hanging out from pilot and other vehicles just shove other vehicles around. So you will be resolving this crassness and unruly behaviour too. Practical problems are surface repressions of deep rooted cultural issues. Like your Swach Bharat initiative. No amount of infrastructure can keep India clean if we don’t stop throwing garbage on roads. I think, in the same manner, car pooling, minimising travel, not running ACs in cars in parking because the VIP cannot ensure 20 seconds of heat while the car cools when AC is switched on, traveling by public transport - all are more of cultural issue than practical ones. And I’m very sure, a step taken by leaders will go a long way in making your initiative successful, sir. Jai Hind - An Indian citizen.
