I grew up resenting my aunt for being well-off but not helping us financially.
When I started working, I promised myself I’d be a better version of her. I helped siblings, nieces, nephews, family — whoever needed it.
Then Black Tax had me in a chokehold, and eventually debt started catching up with me.
That’s when I learned to set boundaries.
I finally understood that I don’t owe anyone financial support simply because we’re family. And, most importantly, I stopped feeling guilty about it.
Funny how adulthood teaches you to understand the people you once judged.
This clip is from 2014 & not much has changed when it comes to Ariana Grande. Discussing her looks, asking if she gets ‘crowns’ when she goes to McDonald’s… Her response was iconic though;
‘I don’t go to McDonald’s. I’m in this because I like to make music, not be a supermodel’.
I think you all need to stop being as comfortable as you got discussing her looks.
in order to become a better person, you must first realize how horrible you really are. not in the dramatic sense, but in the quiet ways you sabotage yourself, repeat unhealthy patterns, hurt people who care about you, or tolerate what wounds you. you cannot grow if you keep pretending you’re innocent in the story you’ve created.
Cortisol is high from hating your life, sitting indoors all day, believing you’re too old & too late, not eating fiber, gossiping, caffeine maxxing, no sleep, boozing the weekend away, watching porn then resenting your partner, keeping up with current tragedies, doomscrolling
