no - they had (and still have) other assets in the fund that did not perform as well, but when you consider the performance of the fund as a whole, as any rational actor should, it’s still wildly successful. You don’t get to just pick the winners out and say they don’t matter. You disagree with the strategy of the fund, but that’s totally fine, because no one is asking you to manage $20b or even giving you the opportunity to invest in this one. Maybe you just don’t get it?

So it’s not money because it’s unrealized or it’s not part of the fund because you aren’t allowed to own any? Still hard to understand why anyone is dunking on a 24 year old that’s running a fund that’s vastly out performed anyone else. Risk doesn’t exist in a vacuum… it’s all part of the same conversation. It’s a mixed fund- not separate accounts. Am I missing something here?

I mean, if your point is that you don’t like Mamdani, okay, cool… I just don’t buy all the whining about safety or the idea that we should all be outraged. As far as I can tell no laws were broken and no one’s safety was measurably impacted. You’re free to believe and vote how you choose, though- if I owned a pied a terre in the city, I probably wouldn’t be a big fan, either.

The list going public was a somewhat unfortunate, but not particularly consequential side effect of the efficient implementation of the policy. Not particularly interested in re-litigating the incredibly popular policy anymore, but I just don’t buy the faux-outrage from the afflicted on some absurd safety argument. Yeah, you’re outraged, but it has nothing to do with a perception of being unsafe and it has no basis in the law. You’re just mad because you disagree with the outcome of a democratic election.

yes to the first, no to the second? I think Alsace is a particularly different example, considering there is freedom of movement on both sides. I do not think we should re-litigate all historical border disputes, but I don’t think that precludes us from re-litigating the ones that create absurdities in the modern world.
