I've spent a lifetime wondering why the Amiga "Insert Workbench" boot image looked kinda wonky, as I always assumed it was hand-drawn pixel art. Turns out it's actually a series of vector drawing instructions. Incredible. They take up just 412 bytes in the ROM. (via stevenf)

@gamesyouloved The PS2 probably because you could install a dev kit in it (I had that) and effectively run it as a Linux box. The PS1 had a separate version for home dev called the Net Yaroze which I never had.

@AmigaL0ve Amiga OS 1.4 was basically the beta for 2.0 - they used it in early A3000 models because 2.0 wasn't really ready in time.

@LaPixelVixen According to Brian Bagnall's recent books, AA+ was a three-chip design which eventually got changed to two chips. It never got made due to CBM's financial problems plus 3D cards were becoming standard. It was cancelled in favour of the Hombre chipset.
