@DanKennett @Rich_Prince07 That rule is for safety reasons. Imagine a 6’6” dude weighing 250 lbs barreling down at you on a 50-yard sprint to tear your head off. So you have to have the safety valve. And thus no aerial contest can be had because the receiver will just call for a fair catch

@DanKennett @Rich_Prince07 If a player on the kicking team touches the ball before a player on the receiving team does, the ball is placed where that touch occurs. And there’s a fair catch rule for safety reasons, which is when the receiving player waves his hand in the air, he can’t be interfered with
