Trauma to the head can cause immediate effects, as well as future, serious problems; the NCAA needs to prioritize the urgency of such situations. #UCR150 @annaaacha

Student athletes are viewed merely as pawns in a game of monetary gain for the NCAA, and are given little care for their health when it comes to pain and injuries. The NCAA needs to show more responsibility when it comes to keeping their athletes safe/healthy. #UCR150 @annaaacha

Discrimination based on sex is unlawful and prohibited thanks to the efforts that laws, such as Title IX, provide when it comes to women’s sports. However, a lack of appreciation and progression for these athletes is shown despite the publicity they bring in. #UCR150 @annaaacha

@AnaVargas050 @annaaacha I agree completely, the National Letter of Intent seems like a good contract on paper, but when you begin to realize that it benefits and protects the school primarily, it becomes apparent that it doesn’t really have its student athletes well-being at heart. #UCR150 @annaaacha

The NCAA has an obvious advantage over its student athletes due to the power imbalance present; this creates an exploitative environment in intercollegiate athletics that leaves its players as commodities that have no rights. #UCR150 @annaaacha

Racism in educational settings is being ignored because of the newer ways it's presenting itself, unjust to ethnic groups. #UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu

Racial consciousness isn't considered during the admission process to avoid prejudice; still, neutral policies in the education system continue helping white students over ethnic groups. Racism in educational settings is still very much prevalent today. #UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu

Large amounts of funding is provided to programs that bring in the most amount of traction for the school, which are usually athletic programs. Student athletes still suffer from high expectations though.#UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu

Too many pressures are placed upon student athletes because of their school's obsession with athletic teams' success, like school records and commercialization. The IAC is a toxic and manipulative environment that leaves them drained and stressed. #UCR50horn @abhornUCRedu
