OH MY GOD, this read is so fascinating to me! It starts from the premise of "I was assaulted" And it ends with the premise of "People like us are going to be murdered" That's an incredible leap rhetorically. I'm interested in understanding how she got there. Let's deconstruct this a bit. Because Ari and Hendrix appear to have motives that leave all feeling suspicious of this entire story, rather than feeling sympathy. Why? Rhetorically, she starts with passive evidence of an assault. Okay, sure, let's go on. Then we move to "masked Antifa agitators". Whoa, that's a profoundly choice use of words that now gives this entire story a whole different meaning altogether. It directly places her account of an assault into an existing political narrative. That changes everything about the lens through which we should interpret this story. The next thing that stood out was the police interaction. The police rhetorically act as a medium to validate the broader actual story being told here. The police and the language used to describe their interaction with them repeatedly validate their story. It gives the impression of institutional credibility backing this story. Then suddenly this entire story becomes a lot more interesting. She starts telling the actual story she really wanted in the first place. "routinely targeted", "controlled territory", caches of weapons", "lethal retaliation" Notice how none of that part of this story is actually based on the evidence being told. It's all being attributed to the police, too. That's a fascinating choice of medium to create a sense of even more institutional credibility in this story. The single most important sentence in this entire story is the following: "One officer expressed concern that they would be called one day to aide in the recovery of a deceased detransitioned gay man's body from Cal Anderson Park." 😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲 Notice how the claim being made at the end does NOT reflect the claim that was being made at the beginning? This entire story is a piece of political propaganda. Which should make all of us feel very suspicious of Ari and Hendrix's motives here. Now, having seen the video of this assault taking place myself, it does genuinely seem like there is merit to the story of an assault taking place. Which begs the question, now that we've deconstructed her written account of the story. Why is she using her firsthand account of an alleged assault she and Hendrix faced as a medium through which to create a political narrative about Antifa? That's a truly unique and fascinating question we all should be asking them and holding them to account for.
