Wat ik zag was schokkend: honderden pallets met bederfelijke hulp stonden in de brandende zon te wachten tot de VN ze zouden verdelen. Sinds vorige week probeert het Israëlische leger (IDF) meer hulp de Gazastrook in te krijgen door middel van luchtdroppings, gevechtspauzes, humanitaire corridors en het openen van extra hulpposten. Sinds 19 mei zijn er meer dan 5000 vrachtwagens Gaza binnengekomen en vier posten zijn nu in gebruik, hoewel veel van de VN-vrachtwagens gewelddadig zijn geplunderd door Hamas of andere bendes in Gaza. De situatie is precair, maar met duizenden tonnen aan hulp die alleen maar op levering wachten, is het duidelijk dat Israël geen obstakel vormt voor de levering van hulp aan Gaza.
