Whether punishment helps or hurts depends on what kind of information is missing: unobserved actions, unknown reputations, assessment errors, implementation errors, or perception errors.

Professor Masuo Suzuki, Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, passed away on September 10, 2025, aged 88. He made seminal contributions to statistical physics, notably the Suzuki–Trotter decomposition. We deeply mourn his passing and extend our heartfelt condolences.
