Wow, it's been a year and a month since I started reading and translating Isuki. Unfortunately, between the pandemic and lot of other stuff, I got pretty sidetracked. (Par for the course for a VN translation, eh?)

@MissFung It's really hard when you've sweated blood and tears for your work and nobody (or barely anybody) shows any interest. I know the feeling. But I hope you don't stop writing. I'm eager to see what you'll create next.

@MissFung You do have fans who play - AND LIKE - your games, even if most of us aren't vocal enough about it. I just finished Valen's route in Cafe Rouge (and loved it) and am deciding who to tackle next. I'll make sure to post a review or two when I'm done.

... and I've preserved the wordplay, the meaning of the original statement by Tadaomi, and a similar meaning to what Maya heard Tadaomi say (which still justifies her displeased reaction). I got lucky this time, or at least that's what I think.

I had to twist the wordplay a bit... and turned "mayakashi" (fake/counterfeit) into "make-believe". Why do that? Because "make-believe" sounds very roughly similar to "may can bleed". So I turn what Maya hears into "Maya can bleed"...

...or if I decided to be TRULY foolish, maybe consider taking a crack at creating a translation patch for the game. I've done some poking around and there are plenty of tools for working with BGI/Ethornell engine games (which Isuki appears to be).

It's been a fun exercise. I'm going to keep at it until I complete all the different routes of the novel. I've also been saving all of my translations in an Excel file so that maybe I can share it with the world when I'm done...

So I purchased the visual novel Isuki (どっちのiが好きですか？ / Docchi no i ga Suki desu ka?) ("Which 'i' do you like?") from Hooksoft and I've been translating as I read it...
