New lesson from my Google IT Support Certificate journey, and this one's simple, but it could save you a lot of money. Let's talk about power supply and your computer. Here's something most of us never think about: every time your system is plugged in and there's power flowing to it, your computer isn't just "charging." It's constantly receiving electrical current. And electricity isn't always steady, it fluctuates. There can be sudden surges, especially after a power outage, when electricity comes back on and hits with a stronger, unstable flow than normal. Your computer's motherboard is one of the most sensitive parts of the whole system. It's basically the control centre, and it does not handle sudden power surges well. Over time, or even in a single bad moment, that instability can quietly damage internal components, without you even realising it's happening until your system starts acting up or refuses to turn on. Here's the part that surprised me: something as simple as leaving your system plugged in after it's fully charged, or leaving it connected right after a power outage, can slowly wear down your hardware. It's not always instant. Sometimes it's gradual damage that builds up until one day, it's just... gone. So here are a few simple habits I picked up that can genuinely protect your system: → Unplug your device once it's fully charged. Don't leave it connected 24/7 out of habit. → After a power outage, wait a bit before plugging back in, let the power supply stabilise first. → Use a surge protector, not just a regular extension socket. It's a small investment that protects an expensive device. → Avoid plugging your system directly into the same source as heavy appliances (like fridges or AC units), since they draw a lot of power and can cause fluctuations. → If you notice frequent power issues where you are, consider a UPS (uninterruptible power supply), it gives your system a buffer during outages instead of an abrupt shutdown. I started a course that I didn't fully know would change how I see my own career. I'm sitting here reflecting on just how far I've come. First, a heartfelt thank you to ITExperience INC. for the opportunity, for believing in career resets, for opening doors, and for granting me the scholarship to study Google IT Support on Coursera. This scholarship isn't just a course. It was a chance to rebuild, relearn, and reset with real, practical skills. I'm deeply grateful. 🙏 Now, looking back at everything I've learned on Career Reset, a few lessons stand out that I don't think I'll ever forget: 🌀 Staying still isn't safe — it just feels that way. Comfort, loyalty, fear- they can all quietly keep you stuck if you're not paying attention. 🔁 Growth is a loop, not a straight line. Learn it, apply it, show it, reflect on it, then upgrade, and do it again. Skip a step, and you stall. 💬 Communication changes everything. How you speak, listen, and show up in a room can open (or close) more doors than your resume ever will. 💻 Digital skills are no longer optional. The world moves fast, and the people who keep learning tools and technology are the ones who keep moving with it. 🤝 You don't grow alone. Every mentor, every classmate, every person who challenged my thinking played a part in this outcome. Here's what I'm carrying forward: Careers aren't something that happens to you; they're something you actively build, one deliberate choice at a time. This course didn't just teach me new skills. It taught me to keep choosing growth, even when it's uncomfortable, even when it's slow, even when no one's watching. To anyone thinking about a career reset, leap. Learn the new skill. Day 4 of my career readiness course, and this one felt like a loop I didn't know I was already stuck in. Today we talked about the Career Control Loop — five simple steps that quietly decide whether you're actually growing or just moving. Learn. You take in something new. A skill, an idea, a lesson from someone ahead of you. This is the easy part. Most of us are good at this one. Apply. This is where it gets real. Knowledge that stays in your head doesn't change your life. You have to use it, messily, imperfectly, in real situations, before it means anything. Show. Don't hide the work. Share it. Talk about it. Let people see what you're learning and doing, even if it's not perfect yet. Visibility is how opportunities find you. Reflect. Stop and actually look back. What worked? What didn't? Growth without reflection is just repetition; you keep doing the same thing without getting better at it. Upgrade. Take what you learned from reflecting, and use it to level up. Then the loop starts again, but this time, from a stronger place. Here's what today taught me: Growth isn't a straight line. It's a loop you keep walking through, on purpose. Skip a step, and the whole cycle gets weaker. Learn without applying, and you're just collecting facts. Apply without reflecting, and you repeat your own mistakes. But when you run the full loop, again and again, you build real, lasting progress.
