One last memory of my brother Christopher James Bush on his birthday. Chris loved German Shepherds. This puppy was with him on the boat, and we still don’t know what happened to it. That hurts too. Five years after USN Veteran was taken from this world. Months after his remains—and those of another American—were lifted from a mass grave on Guanaja, Honduras. Still not home. Still not under the flag that was his by right. Still not at rest. We remember you first as a sailor. Not as a file, not as a controversy, not as a case that officials hoped would fade. As a man who wore the uniform of the United States Navy. As a Miami son who loved boats enough to wander toward the water just to look at them. As USN Veteran who went with his beloved cousin Fidel Dionisio Sanchez and never came back. Gratitude is not a soft word here. It is the hard, unpaid debt a nation owes the people it sent forward and then failed to bring all the way home. They tried to call it a disappearance. It was not. Evidence was gathered. A grave was found. Another American died after that evidence was not acted upon as it should have been. The remains were recovered. Recovery is not repatriation. Recovery is not honor. Recovery is not Arlington. A Veteran can be found and still be left behind. That is the wound that will not close. Mr. President @POTUS @realDonaldTrump, this is not another memo. It is a birthday. Give the order. Fly them from Soto Cano (SCAB) with honors. Drape the flag. Bring two Americans home.
