The Church of the East has never called the "Church of Babylon" in any independent synod of the Church of the East before a foreign church (Rome) decided to call it that. Instead, the Church of the East always called its see the "See of Seleucia-Ctesiphon" officially. Also, the term "Nestorian Church" has also never been used in any independent synod of the Church of the East as a self designation, but rather the name is a misnomer from, once again, foreign church(es). The term "Assyrian" as part of the name of the Holy Church has been used by actual synodal members of the Church of the East. Thus, of the three names in question below - "Nestorian Church", "Church of Babylon", and "Assyrian Church of the East" - only one is native and introduced by prelates of the Church of the East in official synods whereas the other two were names given to the Church of the East and thus not native productions within any Synods of the Church of the East herself.
Nestorian church aka Church of Babylon, no church was “Assyrian” till 1976 when the term “Assyrian” was officially added to the church name.
