Buttigieg is lying. I deal with these kinds of cases all the time. CPS does NOT separate you from your kids over an anonymous, unsubstantiated accusation. Something serious was reported and there was corroboration for it to have gotten this far. Do not let him pretend at being the victim here, something serious is happening and he is trying to frame it as politics.

I’ve received private messages from 3 different NFL writers in the last 48 hours - they are all names you know and all have followings over 60k. The theme is that they want me to know they don’t like my content but also don’t want to engage further about it. 2 declined phone calls to talk about their opinions of my content. All 3 have encouraged me to stop talking about the Vrabel - Russini story. Nobody mentioned my call out saying beat writers should be asking their head coaches tough questions — but I suspect that is what triggered these messages.

IMO at the heart of the Russini - Vrabel story is a story about “access journalism.” We all saw what happened to Scott Agness when he stepped out of line a few weeks ago. Writers fear asking tough questions because they’re afraid to lose access to the team or being punished by their employer. So these writers end up being PR agents not actual journalists. [of course there are exceptions]. This helps explain how delicate Pats writers were with Vrabel. If you’re unfamiliar with the term “access journalism” and its implications, I encourage you to look it up. It’s not just a sports problem. Combining access journalism with conflicts of interest and you’re going to get weird situations like: The AP not explaining why it won’t release awards ballots [AP is paid by NFL], ESPN [10% owned by NFL] largely ignoring the Russini story [Russini used to work for ESPN], and Adam Schefter, not reporting on stories that negatively impact his business partner Robert Kraft.

After years of being banned from entering a stadium in my own country, for no crime other than being a woman, this is how I walked in. I did enjoy the game. England won. But walking through those gates, that was the real victory.
