The European Parliament voted AGAINST Chat Control. 314 to 276. And it passed anyway. Let me tell you how: they needed 361 votes to say no. On the last day before vacation. Every empty seat counted as a yes. They lost the vote. They won the law. That’s not democracy. That’s a trick. #ChatControl

The “temporary” Chat Control 1.0 was rejected in March. It expired in April. It has now been extended until 2028, even after a majority of MEPs voted to reject it. Our freedoms hinge on our ability to communicate without surveillance. Measures like Chat Control undermine that.

The research on who builds open source has been clear for at least two decades as well (2005). A study by Lakhani and Wolf, covering 684 developers across 287 projects, found contributors spending an average of 14 hours a week on software they give away for nothing. Some gave far more. When the researchers asked why, the answer wasn't for a career or money, but for meaning - how the work made people feel. For Google, any app is a commercial point. My attempt to protect users from scam apps on the @AppStore has gotten my Apple Developer account flagged for termination - ironically, for "dishonest activity". Unless it's reversed by June 30, all new installs of Sparrow Wallet will fail, and development on macOS will end.

Only 2.5% of crypto holders use a hardware wallet🫨 The rest are trusting exchanges, soft-wallets or "I'll do it later". Please use a hardware wallet. For BTC & ETH, I'd recommend @Keycard_ but honestly, any reputable hardware wallet is better than none.
