@retneysholocron @OocTobeyM This scene wasn’t in the original movie. It was added to the 1997 Special Edition but they cut out the part talking about Luke’s father. So the original statement is arguably accurate but also misleading.
@sadbagillions @JoshuaW43833057 @essa_muse I get the Godfather reference, but in that movie Michael knew he was going to be frisked, so the gun had to be hidden on-site for him to retrieve after the frisking. The guy in the Members Only jacket wasn’t going to get frisked.

For that matter, it’s not clear Hitchcock selected these scenes to demonstrate his point. Might have been a later edit.

And I think most people would think sticking a gun to the abdomen of a pregnant woman is even more vile than doing that to someone who is not pregnant. Which is probably why someone invented this detail in the first place.
