A potential solution: expert survey panels that aggregate confidence-weighted scientific opinions on emerging issues, allowing non-scientists to see areas of scientific consensus, division, and uncertainty. E.g. the economics panels from @ChicagoBooth: kentclarkcenter.org/us-economic-ex…

One problem we tried to solve: even when there is a high degree of scientific consensus, media outlets may elevate voices that lie far outside the scientific mainstream. How can we help non-scientists distinguish between consensus science and fringe science?
