This paper should be required reading for anyone trying to use algorithms to improve fairness/equity or achieve political goals. A worthy ambition but it’ll be easy to do more harm than good in this space.

The @JusticeTechLab data repository now includes ShotSpotter data from gunshot sensors in 32 cities and counties. Most datasets include precise timestamps & geocodes. justicetechlab.org/shotspotter-da…
80% of gunfire incidents aren't reported to police. But gunshot sensors tell us where and when they occurred. You can find gunshot sensor data from 15 cities on our website (with 6 more cities being added soon): justicetechlab.org/shotspotter-da…
