Staking on Polkadot just became simpler. With Referendum 1910 enacted, nominators are no longer slashable and the unbonding period has been reduced from 28 days to around 2 days. Validators still carry slashing risk through their own self-stake, keeping the security model intact while making staking far more flexible for nominators.

The artists who transformed the space. The builders who stayed up late testing. The speakers who shared their ideas. The supporters who believed in the vision. And every person who traveled to Berlin to be part of it. For two days, Funkhaus became something special. Conversations began between strangers. Ideas became collaborations. Projects became prototypes. And old friends became new ones. None of that can be manufactured. It only happens because people choose to show up, contribute, listen, question, and create together. So... To everyone who spoke. To everyone who built. To everyone who volunteered. To everyone who performed. To everyone who helped behind the scenes. Polkadot Testnet (Paseo) is getting a major overhaul. A new governance proposal will make the network smaller and more efficient, reducing it to 20 cores and 60 validators while continuing to support community parachains. What's changing: • Network reset (Asset Hub, People & Bulletin will be preserved) • Bridge Hub, Collectives & Coretime will be removed • RPC services will be managed through the Paseo bounty • A short downtime may happen during the transition The goal is to make Paseo a better place to test the next generation of Polkadot products while keeping the network sustainable. ⚠️ We're aware of an issue that's currently preventing validator elections from rotating to the next validator set, and we're actively working on a fix. The issue was identified following the rollout of recent governance-approved changes to validator eligibility. Under specific conditions, the resulting validator set no longer met the requirements needed for validator rotation to complete. For validators, the current validator set will remain active until the issue is resolved. For nominators, new nominations and reward payouts for the current era will be delayed until the extended era ends. Aside from staking operations related to era transitions, the network continues to operate normally. No staking rewards are being lost. Validators continue earning rewards throughout the extended era, and nominators will receive their rewards once the era concludes. Because the era is longer than usual, both validators and nominators will receive proportionally larger rewards. The rewards are delayed, not reduced. We're currently targeting a fix within 2.5 to 4 days and will continue providing updates as work progresses. A full postmortem will be published once the issue has been resolved.
