The late Muammar Gaddafi's relationship with Nigeria was nothing short of maverick. Gaddafi once secretly proposed a joint Nigeria-Libya invasion and division of Chad to President Shehu Shagari during an Organization of Africa Unity (OAU) summit. Gaddafi approached Shagari privately and suggested a defense pact between Libya and Nigeria. He believed a joint Nigeria and Libya force would be enough to counter French geopolitical influence in the region. Nigeria and Libya would invade Chad, split the country in half and share it between them. President Shagari was dumbfounded by this aggressive proposal. He quietly rejected the offer, keeping the bizarre interaction classified at the time. Nigeria and Libya actually eventually ended up on opposite sides of the Chadian conflict, with Libya funding separatist rebels and Nigeria scrambling MiG-21 fighter jets to block Libyan forces from annexing the mineral-rich Aouzou Strip in northern Chad in late 1981. Oddly enough, two years later Chadian forces, led by Idris Derby invaded 19 Nigerian islands in Lake Chad and six villages in Borno State in 1983. General Muhammadu Buhari, Commander 3rd Armoured Division expelled the Chadian forces, with MiG-21 fighter jets playing an integral part. Even after expelling the invading Chadians, he defied the President's order to stop at the border and pursued the retreating Chadians more than 50 kilometres into Chadian territory before finally bringing his advance to a stop. The 1980s were a fascinating period in Nigeria's geopolitical history. Regional power struggles, military adventurism, an assertive foreign policy, it had it all.

@SavvyRinu May we be this united after the coming General Elections if and when our collective mandate is hijacked. And may we be victorious at the end. Amen.

Saw this on one of my Whatsapp groups. EKEDC IN DESPERATION _____ I installed an 18kW solar power system at my property in Lekki Phase 1, relegating EKEDC supply to a backup status. Since then, I have been having more frequent visits from personnel of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), coming to check my prepaid meter. On one of those visits, the EKEDC team stood watching the meter for motion to indicate consumption. When the meter wasn't moving, they called me to say they suspected I had bypassed the meter. I told them I had enough solar power for my daytime needs and only used their supply as a backup for the dark hours. To prove this to them, I switched on my inverter bypass for about 2 minutes so my consumption would be from EKEDC. They saw the meter rotating normally. They were visibly upset and one of them mumbled something like "This ọ̀gá no wan gree us chop". They left. Today (19-Oct-2026), three of them came to my premises with a notice of disconnection. The last time I loaded an EKEDC token was in July 2026 and I still had ample units left. When I asked why they would disconnect me, they said the reason was "LOR" (Loss of Revenue). They said my slow consumption indicates a faulty meter and I had to pay them ₦112,606 for loss of revenue. I told them my meter was not faulty and that they could test it if they wanted. The lady said they were losing revenue and they had to make up for it. I didn't know whether to laugh or to be angry. I have no intention of paying EKEDC a dime for its loss of revenue due to my taking steps to protect my interest. But, I share this story for all who are investing in solar power to know that the DisCos are now desperate. They now have "Loss of Revenue" as a reason for your disconnection from their supply. It is simply that they are not making enough money from you. I am waiting for EKEDC to disconnect me from their grid before I lodge a formal complaint to the regulatory authority. We are in interesting times in Nigeria! Raphael Awoseyin 19-Oct-2026

After watching this video, you’ll agree that the DSS, Police, Army, NAFDAC, and NDLEA should investigate this lady over the kind of content she is creating.😞

Trending Story: Saudi Arabia has exe/cuted two Bangladeshi nationals, Nazrul Islam Abdul Basir and Siri Akhtar, following conviction of immoral sexual act inside a mosque in Mecca. The “immoral act” was apparently a kiss on the forehead. They were newlyweds who decided to spend their honeymoon in Mecca. According to reports in Bangladesh, Saudi authorities refused to consider they were a couple, and the forehead kiss was an expression of appreciation to Allah for a beautiful bride. Their bodies have arrived in Bangladesh in two coffins for traditional burial rites. Follow @TrendingEx for dailies..

Pròf. David Umahi applauds Tinubu for his Engineering Ideas as he advised him to Stop the Coastal road at Ondo and Divert it to detour inland through Edo State to join the East-West Road against the federal government master plan. *Coastal Road: Dave Umahi is Living in Bondage* Dr Ugo Egbujo. Someday a tribunal will sit on the coastal road project Nothing can be hidden under the sun A president awarded a multi trillon naira project to his business partner The project had barely started When they suddenly discovered there were telecom lines on the route A multi trillion naira project No surveys No tender. No bidding . No costing And the minister wouldnt answer any questions The minister had said the contractor would source all the money Then he changed and said the country would contribute 15-30% He wasnt even sure of the exact percentage contribution Then suddenly the FG threw over a trillion into the project When a yound lady dared to ask if there was an environmental impact assessment Umahi mocked her Two weeks later Umahi said they didnt know there were telecom lines on their path Rufai Oseni asked what the cost per kilometer was Umahi dismissed the legitimate question as illiterate A few days later Unahi announced that he scope of the project had been reduced It was no longer a total of 10 lanes . It would now be six lanes. Just like that The entire thing was arbitrary , haphazard, shifty When Obi said the road was a wrong priority for a country whose existing roads were crumbling Saying the road would require 30 years for completion Tinubu and his men scoffed at him When Amaechi said he would stop the road and fix the East West road first They mocked him Now Umahi has childishly confessed that the day Tinubu approved the re routing of the road to the East West road was the best day of his life Guy must have be living a miserable life A few days ago he had told us that he chose the project and chose the contractor without any prompting from Tinubu He wanted to fool us into believing that Tinubu didnt award the contrat to his business partner If the best day of his life is now the day Tinubu agreed to a partial discontinuation of the coastal road Then Umahi has been living in bondage all the while But the joke is on the clown Because Almost the entire country knew that Tinubu was only interested in the lagos Ogun corridor And he wasn't going to complete no coastal road 🤣😢
