@NewSweezyite It's far from being a specifically Hegelian thing. But philosophy people wildly disagree with each other on many topics primarily because they start from different intuitions, and Hegel is known for being the guy obsessed with keeping external reflections away from the internal.

@NewSweezyite Hegel does refer to the necessity of true *refutations* to occur on the basis of a system's own assumptions. External refutation simply occurs by assuming different things, so all someone has to do to respond is not agree with those assumptions.

Hegel’s remarks on calculus are simple to understand. They take place in light of the derivation of ratio as the beginning of the transition from quantum back to the qualitative. Quantum as ratio is in relation to itself, a unity where one magnitude is compared to another. 1/20
