TA shamed me and laughed at me for making grammar errors (did my studies abroad). Years later he ran into me in a bar half drunk and apologized for being an ass and offered me a beer.

@EnricaFerrara @EdgeCuting @ProfPacella Yes - the productivity expectations aren’t realistic. The focus is often on numbers not meaning. And creating meaning takes time to read, think, write, hash things out with collaborators, go through a rigorous review process (with more than 2 reviewers).
@ProfPacella Same here. The worst thing is that when i miss 1-2 nights, i feel guilty, even though I've been working during the day. Yep, i know its wrong. 😀
@jenheemstra First 2 years of college i had the worst organic chem professor EVER, we barely passed, then in 3rd year, this great professor came along, managed to fit the material for all 3 years into one year, and still almost everyone got excellent grades. AND we actually loved his class!
@neurodivergical @thoughtsofaphd If it makes you feel better, some of my committee members were having lunch together before my defense, and were giggling during my defense about god knows what, while others members were asking questions. Then asked the same questions when it was their turn. Sooo... 🤷♀️

Just because you're unhappy in your current lab, doesn't mean it's like that everywhere! 2/2
