The Protect College Sports Act protects the NCAA. The NCAA does NOT protect female athletes. Unless it's amended, I do not support the Protect College Sports Act. There is no room for ambiguity.

The Protect College Sports Act is well-intentioned. But while it’s trying to fix the chaos and money in college football, women are once again getting thrown under the bus. The bill limits states’ ability to set eligibility requirements. In 27 states, laws already protect women’s sports by declaring men ineligible for women’s teams. This bill leaves a wide-open crack for the NCAA (or a future hostile administration or activist judge) to claim those state laws are null and void for college athletics. There is no room for ambiguity when the rights of girls on the field and in the locker room are at stake. We just won a landmark Supreme Court victory upholding state laws that keep men out of women’s sports. We should not hand the other side a tool to undo it. Tighten the language. Fix the bill. Make it clear you're not sacrificing women’s sports and female athletes. Fix the money problems in men’s sports without sacrificing the girls. A bill that claims to protect college sports must actually protect the female athletes who play them.

SCOTUS has held multiple times (including in an ADF case--Trinity Lutheran v. Comer) that such discrimination violates the Free Exercise Clause.

1/3 Iowa Senate File 2231 has passed both houses of the state legislature and now goes to the governor for signature. Among other things, SF 2231 eliminates government discrimination against religion in a variety of contexts.
