In this unforgiving world, refugees also lose the identity that they are human beings too. Like any of us, they have the right to safe and dignified shelter. These temporary shelters are the bare minimums to keep families dry through rain and floods. Let them live in safety.

Last night’s fire was contained, but dozens of shelters were destroyed👇 Humanitarians & refugee volunteers are supporting affected families. 🚨As the dry season starts, fires in the camps become more frequent - destroying shelters & forcing families to rebuild again and again.

I strongly condemn the Israeli attacks in Qatar – a clear violation of the country’s sovereignty & territorial integrity. Qatar has played a positive role to achieve a ceasefire & the release of all hostages. Everyone must work towards achieving a permanent ceasefire, not destroying it.

Refugees fleeing persecution carry invisible scars, and life in camps can deepen their pain. The theme of #WorldSuicidePreventionDay2025 - changing the narrative on suicide - reminds us to break the silence & listen with compassion🕊️

A major earthquake has caused many casualties in Afghanistan. This adds death and destruction to other challenges including drought and the forced return of millions of Afghans from neighbouring countries. Hopefully the donor community will not hesitate to support relief efforts.

Leaving Bangladesh after three intense days with government, partners, colleagues. Nowhere more than in the Cox’s Bazar camps is the life-saving role of humanitarian aid clear; no other refugee population more than the #Rohingya deserve a just, durable solution to their plight.

This may look like a small step from afar. But it matters way much to those who won't have to live on a wet floor and puddles at their doorsteps on the smallest scale of rain. @UNHCR_BGD strives to improve the living condition of the #Rohingya refugees kindly hosted by 🇧🇩
