What you said is true and also a reflection of good decision-making! It was not clear a month ago that we'd have a chance to be good in 5 years.

@WRBolen It's terrible that Balogun was given a ridiculous red card. We should, as you suggest, understand the magnitude of that ridiculousness! It's terrible! But "may never see Balogun in a USA jersey again" is very silly because...the USA plays games that aren't just the world cup?

@RobDauster I’ve always thought it should be goalie + 1 defender, not 2 defenders (and if goalie is ahead of the ball then you’d only need 1) but by the book, ya right call. I said aloud in real time “why aren’t they commentating” and I legit think they just didn’t realize what had happened.

@ussoccerfeed The idea that competitiveness is defined via "who can win the league" and not "how competitive is the whole league" only makes sense when your frame of reference is American. There is a huge problem of NBA teams losing on purpose. No such problem in Europe. Open/shut case.

However long you look at it, if you don't have extra information (there's another year), the data's (inaccurate) story is that Butler's development was on the extreme low end of MU players.

@nolan_durdan @PaintTouches @cobrastats Fair enough. I think players whose careers were not fully post-2010 should be taken out then. His numbers are misleading if the goal is to capture which players improved, which didn't, and which regressed. The story told here is "Jimmy Butler did not improve while at Marquette."
