@srl In the UK all ballots are hand counted for every election. When my wife (from the US) heard about this she couldn't believe it!

@djstimms It's in interesting thought experiment, but as other commenters have noted, there is a significant accountability issue. I think there is also a problem in a system that appears to be locally representative but is actually proportional - it feels a bit dishonest.

Even if that is true, why should that have any bearing on the financial requirement for a spouse visa? That should instead mean that a better system is required to prove the veracity of relationships.
@Friar_Balsam @ninabake2 @doongle123 @ColinYeo1 It's unspeakably cruel. If this had been in place in 2020 then my wife wouldn't have been able to get a visa to join me in the UK. Feel heartbroken for all the couples and families who's lives will be torpedoed if this actually becomes law.

@AndrewTingley @Friar_Balsam @doongle123 @ColinYeo1 Jesus. What @AndrewTingley has posted suggests that they genuinely are going to raise the family visa income requirement to that level. This would be unspeakable cruel if it does actually happen.
