The extraordinary power the @FBI wields and the nature of its mission means it should be subject to *stronger* #whistleblower protections—not weaker ones. We need a safety valve against the pressure it is under to cut corners on civil liberties and cover-up its own wrongdoing.
Subject of one of my favorite President Reagan speeches: “These are the boys of Pointe du Hoc. These are the men who took the cliffs. These are the champions who helped free a continent. And these are the heroes who helped end a war.”
There is no legitimate reason for @FBI management to have a special exemption from complying with the #whistleblower protections afforded to all other federal law enforcement.
The FBI thinks it's working great! Agents blow the whistle and FBI pulls their clearance. Problem solved.
The system for protecting @FBI #whistleblowers is broken—by design. Just look at the numbers:
@MSNBC Actually, they did follow the procedures by making disclosures to their chains of command. The FBI abused its authority by suspending their clearances, taking away their livelihood while also stopping them from taking other employment, instead of using the disciplinary process.
It came out a little redundant, but I can’t overemphasize how flawed the thinking is that in order to truly be a whistleblower you have to be retaliated against. That is PRECISELY what the whistleblower laws are designed to prevent.

FBI suspended my security clearance for notifying a federal judge of DOJ misconduct favoring a sexual predator. An indefinite suspension w/o pay while prohibiting the employee from taking another job is unfair and no way to cash in.
