The gap between a resume and what a role is asking for is rarely a talent gap. It's almost always a framing gap. Which experiences are relevant, how to describe them in the employer's language, what's missing. Most students find that out only after they don't hear back
If you're a student, the application portal isn't your enemy. It's just not your whole strategy. The question is where else you're building visibility — before anyone asks for your resume, where you're building your experience, your network, the proof of your safety as a hire.
Of course, that's still easier said than done. The job market in is stacked against recent graduates, and increasingly so. But if you're going to try something, it's better to focus being annoyingly visible to a smaller number of roles than blindly applying to a thousand
