@Phenton5 @RonDeSantis The “best method” is to do pairwise comparisons of all candidates. E.g., if A, B and C are running, every voter would vote yes/no on “A>B?”, “A>C?”, “B>C?”. You can get deadlock, but that’s a tie. It scales badly, is complicated and doesn’t solve root problems.

@liberty_kevlar @museywags @money_cruncher I would think the Daniel Penny case on the NYC subway is a good example of this. The prevailing powers seemed to target him deliberately for his initiative. That’s how it seemed to me, anyway.

Those people, if fully developed, could later pose a political threat to the dictators. Solzhenitsyn described extreme efforts to remove people with initiative from the population.

@ServiceSimone If you were looking for morally noble benefits, I only know of one, proposed in the Wilson era: One solution to our immigration controversy would be to apply a $250/hr minimum wage to all non-citizens. Minimal other tests would be needed to avoid parasites.

@ServiceSimone Generally, from minimum wage laws: Unions benefit, since the laws remove some low-wage competition. Tech benefits, since they make the mechanical replacements for humans. Rich benefit, since their kids have relative employment advantages over poor kids. Open to correction.

Funding and staffing could be made in such a way that it would be unlikely for such a fire to not have someone available nearby. Sav was pushing that this should be considered abnormal (i.e. very rare) and people disagreed.

@fbtigers03 @Savsays @lynne_catmom I’m sure one of the variables increasing response times is the remoteness of the location. I would expect a potentially deadly fire blocking traffic in the middle of a highway in a major city would have a response time below average.

@Sourshoes416 @Sassafrass_84 You’re on the right track. It was actually climate change that shot his father, and now he travels this country hunting it down. He was actually fighting climate change when it started this fire, a terrible misunderstanding, arresting the wrong party.

From their perspective though, almost everything is rooted in white supremacy and racism, so I don’t see how this take is at all surprising.

@ChrisMartzWX Literal fascism is when government dictates how private businesses should run. In the reported RFP, NYC would be dictating how private contractors would be running the city-owned grocery stores. I don’t know if you meant that ironically, but this *is* literal fascism.
