@LucyGoBag Unfortunately many parents are used to seeing schools gaslight them about their children's rights, their support, and fundamentally completely eroding the "reasonable" parent voice from the equation. Parents becoming unreasonable is an entirely predictable consequence.

Climate rhetoric on the hell site is wild. Heat like this + humidity + high overnight temps = deadly, for a minority. It's not normal, appropriate precautions (not panic) is absolutely warranted. (Crazy "it's just summer, lover weather" posters )

@john_actuary @TilWykes My favourite part is it's so obviously unsustainable that many working age today not only have to pay for this policy, but will almost certainly themselves not benefit from it when they reach retirement.

@john_actuary @TilWykes Exactly this. Rarely is a policy so explicitly written out to be unsustainable in it's very definition. Then you have the double hit of it being, at its core, a regressive rather than progressive policy. (That's before we talk about it being transparently political!).

@DanNeidle The bigger point for me is that the rate at 35-44 today does not pass the sniff test. MORE THAN A THIRD OF PEOPLE AT THAT GROUP earn more than £200k does not sit at all well vs reality.

@DanNeidle Feels relatively straight forward to me - 55-59 would have been 37-41 at the time of global crash, at an era of primary progression being ladder climbing. I.e. the group most prone to being locked into a career path that would not already be at that level.

@DudeAdhd I mean let me tell you...I am an adult with ADHD. My diet is, and always has been, AWFUL. I KNOW it's awful. I know it's unhealthy. I *care* that it's awful. I don't want it to be. Doesn't change the sheer cliff climb of changing it. (And I mean...it's really awful)

@moog77 I think that one thing we should embrace around AI capability is the fact to provide greater individualized learning. Not only capability level, but also some children learn *differently*. Hence my point around send as a particular possible sweet spot.

@moog77 I agree, although I would also say that in modern times in particular (large class sizes, grossly understaffed education establishments), I'd question whether that "more to teaching" part happens anywhere near as much as some think it does. My experience is it absolutely doesn't.

@DudeAdhd Overall feeling of that article is...."cool story bro". They've basically described one very specific, and *possibly* low intervention requirement, experience of ASD. An absolute joke given the positioned experience to take such experiences as universally extrapolated.

@moog77 Correlation ≠ causation. I can immediately think of likely correlatory factors with higher incidence of smacking that are far more likely directly linked to outcomes.

@moog77 Incidentally.... education is prime for this kind of reform. Especially at pre-mastery level, a huge amount of the academic side (NOT pastoral/social) could be handled via this kind of approach. Expect huge union pushback in coming months/years.

@moog77 ...the *opposite* group (non-FSM). I think AI tutoring, albeit truly individualised, could revolutionise some areas of education. I think it has a very particular touch point in SEN for example. But just throwing out AI tutors at "lower performers" is the wrong approach.
