When the Netherlands decided to allow euthanasia back in 2001, it was reassuringly only for those with irremediable and unbearable suffering, who had been advised by 2 doctors. But one British campaigner saw this as the breaking of a "psychological barrier"*. 25 years later, those being euthanised include women with mental health conditions and eating disorders, lots and lots of women with dementia, and now a child under 12. * Director of @dignityindying of course

NEW: The Assisted Dying Bill is returning to Parliament this week. Labour MP Lauren Edwards will reintroduce it on Wednesday after coming 2nd in the private members’ ballot. “The process has been frustrated by a small minority”, she argues.
"Only 7% of Edwards’ constituents included it in their top three priorities for what they would want her to prioritise" 550 of Lauren Edwards' constituents signed our petition asking her to bring forward a Bill to unite, not divide the community.
Reckless. If the Assisted Death Bill is brought back and forced into law, there is little chance to make this Bill safer - far less safe. Fateful legacy for whichever MP has been persuaded to take it on.
We have debated this deeply divisive and flawed Bill for over a year and nothing has changed nothing. This Bill will hand sweeping, unchecked powers over life and death and our NHS to future governments..whoever they are. Insane stuff.
Very sad to see my colleague Lauren Edwards MP bringing the deeply flawed and unsafe Assisted Dying Bill back as a PMB. If it was safe and brilliant why did the Lords sponsor of the bill bring 77 amendments in the Lords? It cannot just be brought back as it is and forced through.
