@TVachaW Yes I agree. But how do you know? If ethical expression is part of how you identify realization, then realization cannot be used as an independent explanatory cause of ethics.
@TVachaW I certainly believe and experience that abiding in emptiness does result in compassion, but it doesn't seem to be enough for it to become the number one motivation in many cases.
@TVachaW Christian clergy aren’t considered evidence of what union with God produces, but saints. By contrast, some Buddhist teachers, in abiding emptiness realization, are abusive. If abiding in emptiness naturally flowers into compassion, why are some realized masters abusive?
@TVachaW The Buddhist premise makes sense. But I struggle with the fact that there are innumerable cases of teachers who still abuse their students, who have seen "the distinction between self and other is empty". It seems somehow that the realization of emptiness is just not enough?
@TVachaW What I'm getting at is why is reality structured so that wisdom, compassion, and bliss are at its core? Why should seeing reality accurately make one morally better? I'm struggling with these questions myself, and Christianity seems to be more helpful.

@ironick @wordsandsense You’re still missing the essence here. E.g. Atom bombs where parasitizing off of the Good invention of harnessing nuclear fission. It was a relatively banal thing to turn that into a bomb. Think about this more deeply and you will find all the answers on your own.
@ironick @wordsandsense Evil is a privation on Good (E.g. Augustine, Plato, your heart). It's not a positive force but an absence or distortion of good. Destruction, cruelty, and selfishness are easier and more repetitive than creation, harmony, or virtue. They require less imagination and depth.
